Police are yet to make an arrest one week on from the alleged killing of a baby in South Auckland. The infant was Sofia Taueki-Jackson, the 1-year-old daughter of Owen Jackson and Phyllis Taueki. A police spokeswoman said on Saturday afternoon they had not arrested anyone nor laid any charges in the case, as Counties Manukau detectives continued their investigation. The 1-year-old died last Saturday night at Taueki's home in Flat Bush Rd, Clover Park. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton threw his weight behind a school defending itself against a lawsuit brought by a black teenager expelled for refusing to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance. The student argues her expulsion is a violation of her constitutional rights. India Landry, 18, was expelled in 2017 from Windfern High School outside Houston after multiple refusals to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. Under state law in Texas, students are expected to stand as it is recited at start of each day. According to a court filing, Landry refused to stand during the pledge 200 times in class with six different teachers, without incident. However, on the final occasion, she refused to stand during the pledge while was she sitting in Principal Martha Strother's office. Strother, the filing said, expelled Landry immediately. Las Vegas made its way to Baton Rouge as Brandon Landry’s Supper Club opened Tuesday night on Perkins Road in Baton Rouge. Tucked away behind Anthem Bank & Trust, the restaurant stands tall, dark and mysterious. The modern dining parlor has been talked about around town with a whisper. Many Baton Rouge residents knew the general details, like the owner and location, but there was a certain ambiguity surrounding the restaurant and its concept. To keep the mystery and romance going, the restaurant phone number isn’t listed on its website. Instead, guests receive a personal phone call from the staff to confirm reservations. Landry, the Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux co-founder, explained that the goal was to create an almost private club feel and that the name “Supper Club” was a part of the overall vibe.
