Most people who have taken part in a pub quiz with a round on Australia will have tripped over a question put there to confound: which national capital is closest to Perth? Your pen scribbles down the word “Canberra” – because that has to be the answer, surely – only for the results to reveal that, by air, there are 1,919 miles (3,088km) between Australia’s chief city and its lone west-coast metropolis, but “only” 1,875 miles (3,018km) between Perth and Indonesia’s kingpin Jakarta. Your Money: Avoid the blues after Black Friday
Refunds Normally you can only return goods bought in a shop if they are damaged, not as described or don't do what they're supposed to. Anything after that is at the store's discretion; they don't even have to offer a credit note. Happily, online rights are stronger and it doesn't make any difference whether it was a discounted item or you paid full price. However, you may have to pay for the cost of returning it, so check in the terms and conditions or FAQ section of … [Read more...] about Your Money: Avoid the blues after Black Friday

Red tide has been worse than usual this year, plaguing Collier and Lee counties, killing off fish and stinking up the air. On top of that, Lee is still cleaning up the toxic blue-green algae tied to Lake Okeechobee discharges. The algae has invaded the Caloosahatchee River and its canals.
