Upon exiting the Love Island villa, most Islanders take the influencer route, but Paige Thorne is itching to get back to her day job. The Welsh star narrowly missed out on a place in the final with now official boyfriend Adam Collard , but the pair couldn’t be more loved up as they settle into life as a couple in the outside world. Prior to appearing on the ITV2 dating show, Paige worked as a paramedic and she has no plans to hang up her uniform any time soon. Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine on Friday, Paige – who was originally coupled up with Jacques O’Neill before he left the Majorcan villa – shared how she got major FOMO (fear of missing out) after the show ended and she heard an ambulance with sirens blaring. ‘I’ve got a meeting to go back to paramedic work, so that will be exciting,’ she said. ‘I actually saw an ambulance the other day with sirens on and I had like, serious FOMO. I was like, get me my ambulance back! ‘So yeah, I’m gonna go back into … [Read more...] about Love Island’s Paige Thorne returning to job as paramedic after getting FOMO hearing ambulance sirens

Germany currently hosts more than 250,000 refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, according to the U.N. Refugee Agency . Ministers are looking at ways to knock another £500 off bills as well as force energy producers to up production. Boris told the meeting that hitting profits with a new windfall tax would be up to the next Chancellor — but added: “If it was up to me I wouldn’t go down that route”. However bosses were warned that massive bills would ultimately ruin the industry if ordinary people cannot pay up. Young workers hit hardest by lockdown legacy in threat to global growth
Young workers’ job prospects have been hit hardest by the pandemic and the legacy of Covid lockdowns, with dire consequences for the long-term future of the global economy, the International Labour Organisation has warned. There are 19m fewer under-25s in work compared with 2019, the agency said. Global youth unemployment – defined as those who are out of work but actively looking for employment – is still 6m above pre-Covid levels, though expected to fall to 73m this year from 75m in 2021. Combined with lost education as a result of schools being closed through the pandemic, the findings mean today’s youngsters can expect to be less productive and less well-paid for years to come. The young have suffered particularly badly as companies slashed new hiring when Covid struck, favouring older workers who were already in jobs. As a result, the hit to those starting their careers has been bigger than the blow dealt to those who were already in work. “Young people were especially … [Read more...] about Young workers hit hardest by lockdown legacy in threat to global growth
Private school pupils earn £10,000 more than state school counterparts by age of 30
Private school pupils in England are earning £10,000 more than state-educated counterparts by the age of 30, official statistics show. Thirty-year-olds who went to fee-paying schools earn an average of £33,000 compared to just under £23,000 for state pupils not from low-income homes, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found. People from low-income backgrounds who went to state school earned £17,000 on average by the age of 30, the first research of its kind by the UK statistics authority found. A pupil eligible for free school meals who had the same level of education, GCSE attainment, years of work experience, ethnicity and went to a secondary school in the same region as someone who attended an independent school would still earn on average 20 per cent less than the independent student. The ONS compared the earnings of people in England who were 30 between 2016 and 2019. It looked at the outcomes for independent pupils compared to state pupils, and low-income state … [Read more...] about Private school pupils earn £10,000 more than state school counterparts by age of 30
