‘EastEnders’ bosses have announced plans for a special episode as part of its knife crime storyline, which will include true-life accounts from people who have lost loved ones due to knife crime. Last month, the soap won praise for scenes involving schoolboys Shakil Kazemi and Keegan Baker, who were stabbed by a gang. It has now been revealed that in an upcoming episode, which will focus on Shakil’s funeral, the soap will include testimonials from real people affected by the devastating social issue of knife crime. John Yorke, currently serving as the show’s executive consultant, said: “From the very beginning we were determined to treat the difficult subject of knife crime in a responsible, non-sensationalist way. “We started out with detailed research, and the more stories we heard the more we felt other people should hear them too. The episode gradually evolved into something unique for ‘EastEnders’ - real families telling their own … [Read more...] about ‘EastEnders’ To Feature Real-Life Accounts From Families In Special Knife Crime Episode

The last audition show featured brotherly love and hoofing hounds, before this year’s semi-finalists were selected. Here are all the talking points from episode seven… Gifted siblings met contrasting fates Mancunian brothers Shaquille and Shameer Rayes looked like twins – a sort of urban Jedward or hipster Bros – but were born 355 days apart into what’s clearly an all-singing, all-dancing household. Big brother Shaq, 20, was first to take the stage, playing piano and crooning an original composition called “Crescent”, dedicated to his father, who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer – and wiping away tears in the studio audience. Next up was bow-tied, dungaree-clad 19-year-old Sham, who performed a clever, crazy-legged dance routine as a clockwork doll coming to life, set to EDM anthem Runaway (U & I) by Swedish duo Galantis. Both brothers probably deserved to go through but where would be the drama in that? Thus the judges … [Read more...] about Britain’s Got Talent, episode 7: contrasting fates for gifted siblings, plus it’s goodbye for now to Ant

The penultimate round of auditions proved a fitting way to round off a day of flag-waving, cork-popping and street-partying. Here are all the talking points from episode six… Royal wedding fever reached BGT Even though these auditions were filmed four months ago, ITV always edit Britain’s Got Talent right to the wire, enabling it to capture the national mood. A prime example came tonight, with that tacked-on but topical wedding invitation graphic and “Who will perform for the Royal Family this year?” caption. The show can also claim a connection to events in Windsor, since wedding ceremony cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason reached the semi-finals three years ago. Together with all the Union Jack logos and gratuitous mentions of Harry and Meghan, it added up to a pleasingly patriotic, emotionally stirring episode. Let’s hope the happy couple recorded it. They were probably too busy to tune in live. Gruff worked hard to get golden buzzer Several … [Read more...] about Britain’s Got Talent, episode 6: the spirit of variety is alive and well, plus Ant is on fine form
