The futures of both Salomon Rondon and Mo Diame are believed to be crucial to securing the long-term future of Rafa Benitez at Newcastle United. Both players addressed their future over the weekend with Rondon wanting to make his loan deal at Newcastle permanent. Diame is out of contract in the summer and wants a new two-year deal at the club. If Newcastle tie both men down to deals, Benitez will be more likely to discuss a fresh contract beyond this season. Newcastle United writers Lee Ryder and Chris Waugh joined host Sean McCormick to discuss this in our latest Everything is Black and White podcast. Here is a snippet of what they discussed. On Rondon's future Lee Ryder: "It is going to be down to the board. We talk about the board, we are actually talking about Lee Charnley, Mike Ashley and maybe Keith Bishop and Justin Barnes. It is not an official board. "Does Rondon want to stay? Absolutely. He has come out on the record and said it and told them what he wants. "Will … [Read more...] about How crucial are the futures of Mo Diame and Salomon Rondon to Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle future?

Newcastle United's Salomon Rondon defines everything about this current Rafa Benitez side. For Benitez, one of the key elements of the side is the work rate that every player puts it. Goals are of course important, as are clean sheets, but none of those will come without the players giving 100 per cent every time they're called upon. Sean Longstaff has taken that on board, as has Isaac Hayden , two players who were asked to fill in, and now are arguably unmovable from the starting XI. Another man who has quickly become a cornerstone of Benitez' s side is Rondon - currently on loan from West Brom. He was Benitez's first choice, and although it was yet another frustrating chase to get a target, Rondon arrived albeit on loan. Missing the first few games due to fitness, the Venezuelan has quickly found his feet at St James' Park - notching four of his seven Premier League goals this season, at home. Yet Rondon offers more than just a goal threat - his work rate is a vital part into … [Read more...] about Salomon Rondon willingness to run himself into the ground is proving crucial to Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United
Rafa Benitez has told his Newcastle United players to show Huddersfield Town some “respect” – despite their lowly position. Benitez’s side take on the Premier League’s basement club at St James’s Park on Saturday. We approach the game with confidence, but we must also show some respect. Rafa Benitez Newcastle are 16th in the division and a point above the relegation zone.Huddersfield, now managed by Jan Siewert following the departure of David Wagner last month, have taken just 11 points so far this season. Mauricio Pochettino hailed his Tottenham Hotspur team after they moved up to second in the Premier League. Pochettino, however, admitted that "well-organised" Newcastle United made life hard for his team at Wembley, where Heung-Min Son scored the only goal of the game.Martin Dubravka fumbled a shot from Son seven minutes from time.“They fully deserved to score the winning goal," said Pochettino. "Newcastle was a very well organised team, playing deep and not giving us much space.“We knew it was going to be difficult second-half, because Newcastle grow in belief."Having seen his team frustrated by Newcastle for 60 minutes, Pochettino sent on Fernando Llorente."We tried to play a bit more direct, and it was a fantastic effort to recover and win this game after we beat Watford in midweek," said Tottenham's manager.“We're in a very good position in the table – I'm very happy and proud.“We're second, and don’t need to convince ourselves about our … [Read more...] about Mauricio Pochettino gives his verdict on Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United
Rafa Benitez has insisted he has not closed the door on contract talks with Newcastle United. Benitez has denied suggestions that he is ready to quit his post should Miguel Almiron or other January targets fail to materialise. As reported by the Chronicle earlier this month, Benitez is set to reopen discussions with Mike Ashley and managing director Lee Charnley after the January transfer window. When asked if the remainder of the window will be the deal breaker on a new contract, he said: “Everything has an influence but I’m really pleased with the potential of the city and club. "If we’re sure we do the right things I’m quite happy to talk." Benitez did confirm that talks with Ashley had been cordial after the 3-0 win over Cardiff City. He said: "It doesn't change anything about where we are at the moment. We keep working "He was happy that the team had won. I think he was quite happy, congratulating me and the team. "We were talking about business." … [Read more...] about Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United future: ‘If we do the right things I’m quite happy to talk’
