Rapper Fredo will no longer be performing at Radio 1's Big weekend in Middlesbrough this weekend. The British artist - who had a number one single, Funky Friday, in 2018 with fellow rapper Dave - is not now opening on the New Music stage on Sunday, May 26. Radio 1 tweeted the news to fans on Tuesday night at 7.02pm. "Due to reasons beyond our control, Fredo will no longer be performing at BigWeekend on Sunday." Dozens of fans started to comment with one saying "literally about to cry", with another saying "gutted". However, the Big Weekend team then tweeted that UK hip-hop artist AJ Tracey has been added to the line up and will play on Sunday. With less than a week to go until the stars descend on Middlesbrough for Radio One's Big Weekend , Stewart Park is undergoing major transformations. A 10ft wall around the site was put in place earlier this week - and now the main stage is visible from Ladgate Lane. This time next week will see the likes of Little Mix , Billie Eilish and The 1975 performing as part of the huge music extravaganza. The public can't get onto the main site now, but the stage can be seen through the trees from the main road, or from outside the wall within the park. And it's not the only stage under construction, as 'The 1 for New Music Stage' can also be seen from Stokesley Road. The yellow and black striped marquee is where it will all begin, as it will also play host to the Friday night dance line up with acts including Mark Ronson and Annie Mac. Stewart Park is set to be transformed for Radio 1's Big Weekend. Just days before the landmark music festival kicks off, plans released by the BBC reveal how the 120-acre park will look. Music stars will perform across three separate stages, spread out across the site. Headliners such as Little Mix and Miley Cyrus will take to the Main Stage, while up and coming acts will perform on the BBC Music Introducing Stage and The 1 For New Music Stage. The different stages will be orientated around the park's lake, with bars, cash points, food stalls and toilets spread around the site. There will be four entrance gates in total, two on Stokesley Road and two on Ladgate Lane. Stewart Park opened in Marton in May 1928, but will never have hosted an event this big.
