Free ‘Eighth Grade’ screenings across the U.S. this week, only without the R rating
Sonja Haller USA TODAY Published 3:01 p.m. UTC Aug 7, 2018 Haven't seen Bo Burnam's buzzy debut film "Eighth Grade" yet? Now's your chance to see the most painfully real middle-school movie you'll ever see for free. The movie's production company, A24, announced there will be one free showing in 50 theaters, one in each state, on Wednesday, Aug. 8. But the even BIGGER news is that A24 said it's waiving the R-rating of the authentic coming-of-age flick to allow kids of all ages to see the movie. A24 said the free screening means "no ratings enforced," so parents can still expect F-bombs, other swear words and some implied masturbation, according to a Common Sense media review. Tickets are limited and available on a first-come-first-serve basis at theaters. Find the listing of theaters and ticket details here. Like All the Moms? Follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Giant Toys R Us mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe starts second career at children’s hospital
Cheryl Makin Bridgewater Courier News Published 1:01 p.m. UTC Jul 12, 2018 NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Geoffrey the Giraffe, the 16-foot-tall fiberglass Toys R Us mascot, has made a move to a new home less than two weeks after the retailer's U.S. toy stores closed their doors. At one point, the future of Geoffrey — about as tall as a real male giraffe — was in doubt as the 70-year-old company filed for bankruptcy and liquidated operations, including its corporate headquarters in Wayne, New Jersey. Because of Geoffrey's size and the cost associated with transportation and installation, the company struggled to find someone to buy him. No one made a bid. As the June 30 deadline to clear out and clean up drew closer, the Toys R Us liquidation adviser, Joseph Malfitano of Boulder, Colorado, bought the giraffe and paid $10,000 to have Geoffrey packed and shipped the 50 miles here to Bristol-Meyers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert … [Read more...] about Giant Toys R Us mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe starts second career at children’s hospital

St Andrews reached the Somerset final of the national Tony Allcock Trophy and also continued their storming form in the Weston Over-60s League during another successful week. In addition, they picked up the full 12 points for the second game running in the Somerset County League with a victory over local rivals Ashcombe A. Without three of the team who had taken them to the county semi-final of the mixed over-60 Allcock Trophy, St Andrews expected a hard game at home to Ilminster A and it was closer than their 16-shot winning margin suggests. However, Judy Forse, Ann Campbell, captain Ken Curtis and Mike Stocker were in unstoppable form, nine shots ahead after 10 of the 21 ends. Their winning margin of 19 shots ensured victory for the home team. Against the stronger Ilminster four, … [Read more...] about St Andrews reach county final of national competition

Monaghan 1-19 - 0-9 Leitrim By Declan RooneyMonaghan made short work of Leitrim as Conor McCarthy showed his class in the blistering sun of Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada.McCarthy was outstanding for his side in a bright first-half and his three points gave Malachy O’Rourke’s side a six-point cushion, which they easily extended as the game descended to a canter in the baking Carrick on Shannon sunshine.McCarthy bagged the only goal in the 69th minute to add to his three first-half points, while substitute Paudie McKenna added a couple of good scores to keep his side pointed towards the win.It was a lightning fast start from Monaghan in Carrick on Shannon and barely 30 seconds had elapsed when Conor McManus’s long-range effort just crept over the crossbar of Diarmuid McKiernan.Straight from the kick out McManus could have hit the net for Monaghan but he pulled his shot across the face of goal.
