Donald Trump has retweeted a mocked up video of Hillary Clinton being hit in the back with a golf ball. The short video starts with the US president swinging a club on a green in front of spectators. In the second half of the clip, a ball hits Hillary in the back and she falls to the ground. The gif was originally tweeted by Twitter user 'Mike' from the account @Fucktupmind three days ago. It is captioned: "Donald Trump's amazing golf swing #CrookedHillary" It had been retweeted more than 1,000 times and received more than 3,000 likes by midday on Sunday. Reaction from Trump's Twitter followers was mixed. Some users appeared to find the video funny while others considered it grossly offensive and demonstrative of the president's penchant for violence against women. One user wrote: "Hysterical. Love our president has a sense of humour." Another tweeted: "The President of the United States is a child." Defence experts warn of ‘disaster’ for Britain after Donald Trump suggests undoing ‘out of control’ F-35 fighter jet project
British defence experts expressed alarm yesterday after Donald Trump suggested he might undo a multi-billion dollar stealth fighter project that is to form a core part of the United Kingdom's defensive capabilities. The president-elect took a casual shot at the F-35 programme for the world's most advanced fighter jet tweeting on Monday that the cost was "out of control". "Billions of dollars can and will be saved on military (and other) purchases after January 20th," he wrote, indicating a change in strategy after his inauguration. Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion. Cancel order! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 6, 2016 But defence experts told this newspaper there would be disastrous consequences for Britain if Mr Trump were to put the plan on the scrap heap at this late stage. "If the US were to cancel the programme in its entirety tomorrow, the UK would … [Read more...] about Defence experts warn of ‘disaster’ for Britain after Donald Trump suggests undoing ‘out of control’ F-35 fighter jet project
Why the FBI has raided Donald Trump’s estate – and what it is investigating
The raid on Donald Trump's Florida estate has stunned his supporters, enemies and observers around the world. While Mr Trump described it as a "dark times for our nation" , White House officials admitted that they knew nothing of the FBI's plans to storm his Mar-a-Lago home. It comes amid three separate ongoing investigations into the former president - one in Atlanta for conspiracy to commit electoral fraud during the 2020 election, another in New York into the financial affairs of his real estate company, and a third by a US House select committee into the US Capitol insurrection. What were the FBI looking for in Florida? After Donald Trump's presidency ended in January last year, officials found he had taken 15 boxes from the White House to his home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. The consequences Trump could face for mishandling White House records
Update: On Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, the FBI executed a search warrant at former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. Sources tell CBS News the search was related to a Justice Department investigation into Trump's handling of presidential records. In the story below, first published on Feb. 10, 2022, shortly after the National Archives referred the matter to the Justice Department, legal experts told CBS News that Trump could face consequences for violating the Presidential Records Act or criminal statutes governing the handling of classified material. Washington — Former President Donald Trump's alleged improper handling of White House records while he was in office and after he decamped to Florida has prompted fresh scrutiny over whether he flouted federal law and, if he did, whether he can be held accountable for doing so. The law governing the records-keeping responsibilities of presidents is the Presidential Records Act , which was … [Read more...] about The consequences Trump could face for mishandling White House records
Stuck With Trump
You might think that the FBI search at Mar-a-Lago yesterday would provide a welcome opportunity for a Trump-weary Republican Party. This would be an entirely postpresidential scandal for Donald Trump. Unlike his two impeachments, this time any legal jeopardy is a purely personal Trump problem. Big donors and Fox News management have been trying for months to nudge the party away from Trump. Here was the perfect chance. Just say “No comment” and let justice take its course. But that was not to be. The former president has discovered a new test of power: using his own misconduct to compel party leaders to rally to him. One by one, they have executed the ritual of submission: Kevin McCarthy, Marco Rubio, even the would-be Trump replacer Ron DeSantis. Maybe they’re inwardly hoping the FBI will do for them what they are too weak and frightened to do for themselves. But outwardly, they are all indignation and threats of retribution. Meanwhile, Senate and House Democrats are about to … [Read more...] about Stuck With Trump
Republicans rail against DOJ over FBI search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, vowing investigations
Washington — House Republicans and allies of former President Donald Trump erupted in anger late Monday after he revealed the FBI conducted a search of his South Florida home of Mar-a-Lago, with the GOP leader in the House vowing to open investigations into the Justice Department if Republicans win control of the House in the November midterm elections. After Trump revealed FBI agents "raided" his club, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy tweeted that Attorney General Merrick Garland should "preserve your documents and clear your calendar." "The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization," McCarthy wrote. "When Republicans take back the House, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned." Sources told CBS News the search by the FBI is connected to a Justice Department investigation of claims by the National Archives and Records Administration that it retrieved 15 boxes of … [Read more...] about Republicans rail against DOJ over FBI search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, vowing investigations
