Britain's daily Covid deaths have halved in a week — while infections have risen slightly, official figures revealed today. Department of Health chiefs posted 13 more lab-confirmed victims after recording just seven yesterday — which was the first time the daily fatality count was in single figures since September. For comparison, 26 deaths were registered on Easter Monday. Government statisticians today also added another 3,568 positive tests to the official tally, up 29 per cent on last week's figure of 2,762. The rise may be explained by the fact last week was Easter Sunday. Experts have previously noted testing numbers dip on public holidays due to the way swabs are recorded and because fewer people come forward for them. KIND hearted celebrities have rushed to the aid of Big Brother star Nikki Grahame as she battles extreme anorexia. The 38-year-old star's friends have revealed she is in a "very bad way" and have asked her showbiz pals for help to raise £25,000 to get her treatment in a specialist clinic. Last night Nikki's friend Rylan Clark-Neale tweeted: "This is v hard to read but sharing with permission. "If some of the family could help in any way I know it would be greatly appreciated. Sending love x" Since then donations have been flooding in from members of the public and fellow celebrities. A woman says she endured the "worst date ever" after she jumped into the river to save her Tinder match's dog while "he just stood there" watching on. Lizzy Johnson had met the man with a "cute" boxer dog on the app and suggested going for a socially-distanced stroll along the River Mole in Walton-on-Thames. Not long into the walk, her date mentioned that the dog had "never seen water before" just as it excitedly jumped off the bank and into the river. Lizzie claimed that while the man was "too busy flapping" she darted down the bank and into the chest-deep water to rescue it, saying she was left struggling to climb back out while the man "made useless suggestions".
