Eurovision 2022: Rylan Clark ‘did more crying’ over Sam Ryder’s incredible result than iconic X Factor scene
Rylan Clark brought up a very memorable X Factor moment as he recalled getting very emotional after UK act Sam Ryder shot up the leaderboard in last weekend’s Eurovision Song Contest in Turin. Rylan jetted off to Turin alongside Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills, with the pair commentating on both semi-finals ahead of the ESC final on Saturday, May 18. They were on-hand to provide moral support for Sam at the event while Graham Norton delivered his incredible quips to the audience at home. Essex born TikTok star Sam, who represented the UK with the song Space Man, quickly made his way up the leaderboard as the Jury votes came in, eventually ending up in second place . And UK viewers were wowed to finally see the nation succeed at Eurovision after years of disappointment, which also left superfan Rylan emotional. Chatting on his Saturday Radio 2 she, he told listeners: ‘To our boy, Mr Sam Ryder, congratulations mate. We had no doubt in you whatsoever but you really, … [Read more...] about Eurovision 2022: Rylan Clark ‘did more crying’ over Sam Ryder’s incredible result than iconic X Factor scene
Explained: The mysterious monkeypox outbreak in UK, Europe
Human monkeypox leads to skin irritations with pustules and blisters that eventually burst and then scab over, though they rarely leave scars. The infection is similar to normal pox (smallpox or variola) . The cases registered in the United Kingdom have been reported as the West African strain , which is relatively mild compared to the Central African variant. The illness generally runs its course within three to four weeks. The West African strain is seldom deadly — and when it is, it's mostly in small children. As a precaution, Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has issued a warning for Germany, urging citizens to be vigilant. How are the infections transmitted? Human-to-human transmission of monkeypox requires close bodily contact. Often, the transmission chain is broken after a small number of individuals are infected. Currently, researchers are intensively trying to ascertain whether transmission occurs through contact between damaged or injured skin and pox secretions. … [Read more...] about Explained: The mysterious monkeypox outbreak in UK, Europe
It won’t be long before Boris Johnson does the popular thing, and adopts Labour’s policy
Not believing in very much is usually a strength in a politician, and it has served Boris Johnson well. But there are times when it is a weakness and now is one of those times. He had to pretend to be Conservative to get himself out of a hole earlier this year, only to find that he was like a worm that went down when it thought it was coming up. In order to buy off a rebellion among Conservative MPs, who came close to getting rid of him in January, Johnson changed the team in No 10, appointing a cabinet minister, Steve Barclay, as chief of staff to replace Dan Rosenfield. Rosenfield was a political appointment but had been a civil servant, whereas Barclay was a political appointment of an actual politician. Andrew Griffith, a Tory MP, was brought in to head the No 10 policy unit. And David Canzini, a more “political” special adviser than Rosenfield, was brought in as deputy chief of staff. Canzini was quickly credited by Tory MPs with repairing a connection between the … [Read more...] about It won’t be long before Boris Johnson does the popular thing, and adopts Labour’s policy
Moby slams Instagram trolls in text post regarding Natalie Portman
Musician Moby posted a message to his "trolls" on Instagram Thursday morning following backlash after Natalie Portman claimed they never dated. Moby, however, insisted they had a romantic relationship in 1999—albeit brief. Internet users were quick to jump on Portman's side after she negated claims from Moby that the pair had been romantically involved, calling him a "much older man being creepy." Moby's quick Instagram statement told negative commenters they're wasting their time with hate. The post, which was just simple black letters on a white screen read: "Dear trolls, I just don't know if hating a stranger is the best use of your one, short life." He also included a lengthy comment on the post, which held a similar message. "Dear trolls, While I'm flattered by the attention, I just don't know if the best use of your time and your life is hating a stranger based on egregiously limited information," he explained. "I mean, when you are on your deathbed do you really want to … [Read more...] about Moby slams Instagram trolls in text post regarding Natalie Portman
Review: Foldable E-Bike Lectric XP Lite is sturdy, fun and a good value
The idea of a foldable electric bike seems gimmicky. Before trying the Lectric XP Lite, I was skeptical that an e-bike would be able to ride like a traditional bike, provide uphill power and still fold up to a compact size. Well, the Lectric XP Lite does all those things and for a compelling $799 price. The Lectric XP Lite feels like a comfortable (and adjustable) BMX-style bike or perhaps a compact mountain bike that only has one gear. While you grip the handlebars and rest your feet on the pedals, it's hard to tell that there's anything unique about the bike. This is a good thing. It's easy to get acclimated to it right away. Even the electric pedal assist and throttle feels very natural compared with other e-bikes'. Once you're done riding, though, you can fold it in half and break down the handlebars to store or transport it. Even though the bike is a reasonable 46 pounds, I personally can't carry it very far folded up and don't believe many people could. So think of its … [Read more...] about Review: Foldable E-Bike Lectric XP Lite is sturdy, fun and a good value
