Wayne Rooney has weathered many uncomfortable moments during his tumultuous 19-year relationship with Coleen, Queen of Wags. There were those ill-advised visits to 48-year-old grandmother prostitute Patricia Tierney, also known as Auld Slapper, when he was just 16. Then that unfortunate incident with prostitute Jennifer Thompson, when Coleen was pregnant with their first son, Kai. And oh yes, that threesome with Jen and another lady called Helen Wood. Add in a spot of hard partying and drink-driving with a woman called Laura Simpson – plus that weird unexplained photo from last year of the 36-year-old former England player passed out in a chair in a £60-a-night Manchester hotel room as three 21-year-old girls danced around in their skimpies – and you get the picture. Over and over, his indiscretions have been splashed across front pages as Constant Coleen has raised four teeny Wayne lookalikes without complaint – riding out the storms in style on sunbeds in Dubai, Portugal, … [Read more...] about JANE FRYER: Even Wayne Rooney’s black belt in marital crisis management couldn’t spare him the shame

Britney Spears reveals devastating reason she shaved her head during 2007 public meltdown
BRITNEY Spears opened up about why she shaved her head during her 2007 meltdown with a tattooist moments after the act. The singer, 39, sheared off her locks with a pair of clippers at a hair salon, after her ex, Kevin Federline, reportedly wouldn't let her see their two kids, Sean and Jayden. The 2019 documentary, Britney Spears - Breaking Point, reveals the reason Britney shaved her head, which was kept secret for 12 years. After chopping off her locks, Britney turned up at Body and Soul Tattoo studio where she confided in tattooist Emily Wynee-Hughes. Emily said in the documentary: "I noticed her hair was gone. I remember asking her, 'why did you shave your head?' And her answer was a bit weird. "It was, you know, 'I just don't want anybody, anybody touching my head. I don't want anyone touching my hair. I'm sick of people touching my hair.'" Britney asked for a tattoo of another woman's lips to begin with, then a small cross. Emily claims no one on her team … [Read more...] about Britney Spears reveals devastating reason she shaved her head during 2007 public meltdown
Indonesia debuts all-female whipping squad for Sharia law public floggings
Indonesia’s semi-autonomous Aceh province operates under super-strict Sharia law. Offences such as adultery, gambling or drinking alcohol will frequently be punished with caning. The sentence is carried out with a rattan cane, and up to now the person dealing out the punishment will be a man. But now an elite all-female flogging squad has been recruited to dole out the punishment. The team of eight women have been trained in the appropriate flogging technique and advised how to limit injury. Banda Aceh Sharia police chief investigator Zakwan told AFP: "We train them to make sure they're physically fit and teach them how to do a proper whipping. "It's kind of an indoctrination that we give to them so they have a better understanding of their role – have no mercy for those who violate God's law”, he added. The most serious sentences – for homosexuality, for example – can entail up to 150 lashes. Victims frequently pass out during their sentence or have to be hospitalised … [Read more...] about Indonesia debuts all-female whipping squad for Sharia law public floggings
The coming bipartisan backlash to public school wokeness | Opinion
The backlash to critical race theory, gender ideology and what is often called "wokeness" in schools represents a rare example of bipartisan agreement during a hyper-polarized time. While this might not fit the mainstream narrative, journalists and politicians ignore what is happening at their own peril. The growing resistance is easy to miss on the surface. There is much more pressure on the Left to toe the ideological line in public and hide one's real opinions in the safe harbor of DMs and text messages to trusted friends and allies. But conversations with parents, students and teachers reveal that even self-described liberals and lifelong Democrats are extremely alarmed by what they see as dogmatic classroom activism and outright discrimination in the name of diversity, equity and inclusion. I have spent the past two weeks reading through submissions to Parents Defending Education , a new group we launched recently to fight back against the "woke" ideology in our … [Read more...] about The coming bipartisan backlash to public school wokeness | Opinion
Allied health worker in Blenheim calls 24-hour strike a ‘bloody shame’
Grey skies and morning drizzle did little to deter Marlborough’s Allied health force from taking to the streets in protest as part of a 24-hour nationwide strike. The day of strike action went ahead after an 11th-hour pay offer was rejected by the Public Service Association (PSA) union, and saw workers from more than 70 different health care professions walk off the job in protest over poor pay and conditions. PSA delegate, and senior physiotherapist at Wairau Hospital in Blenheim, Reuben Rhodes was one of scores who braved the dismal weather, and said he was taking the industrial action because his voice and those of his colleagues needed to be heard. “We’d rather not be here, but we don’t let the weather stop us. [The DHBs] chucked us an offer last-minute Friday night, but it didn’t come close to what the ERA (Employment Relations Authority) recommended. The Myth of the ‘Lone Wolf’ Shooter
Wolves are not a particularly special species. They are not as menacing nor as powerful as mountain lions. They are not as big as many other predators, nor as strong, nor terribly wise, nor do they have sophisticated tools or genetic dispositions that make them individually dangerous in the animal kingdom. Their ability to capture prey worthier than themselves results from collaboration—from the pack. Once prey is targeted, the pack first disperses, then surrounds the victim—some wolves from the front, others from the back. The wolf pack’s defining feared feature is that it does not work alone. The lone wolf, in the animal kingdom, is not powerful; it is weak. The wolf, acting alone, is not something to fear. Lone wolves do not massacre because they can’t. Eighteen-year-old Payton S. Gendron allegedly went hunting yesterday at a supermarket after traveling more than 200 miles from his home. Police say he was heavily armed, wearing protective military-style gear, and proceeded … [Read more...] about The Myth of the ‘Lone Wolf’ Shooter
“Still hasn’t paid”: Woman backed for demanding friend send post-meal venmo
Members of a popular internet forum were quick to defend one college-aged woman who detailed how an expensive birthday celebration soured after just one Venmo request. In a viral Reddit post published on r/AmITheA**hole, Redditor u/yulitin (otherwise referred to as the original poster, or OP) said she footed the bill for her friend's birthday dinner at Nobu and explained how the costly meal created tension with another member of her friend group. Titled, "[Am I the a**hole] for expecting to be Venmo'd right away for the cost of dinner?" the post has received nearly 6,500 votes and 800 comments in the last day. Writing that the birthday celebration included five women between the ages of 18 and 20, the original poster said she offered to pay the entire dinner bill in order to expedite the process, but made it clear she expected to be reimbursed . "Five of us went to Nobu to celebrate our friend's birthday," OP wrote. "Splitting the check is a hassle, so I paid, and they … [Read more...] about “Still hasn’t paid”: Woman backed for demanding friend send post-meal venmo
Is this electronics whizz a genius or a conman?
Vernon Kerswell asks if we can meet at a Thames-side café in Teddington, south-west London. He doesn’t say as much, but he seems almost resistant to being seen on his home patch, five miles away in Wimbledon. A diffident young man, Kerswell has even more of a frightened-rabbit look than he did the first time I met him, in early 2020. At that point, the sustained online campaign against him had yet to reach its near-hysterical crescendo. Today, just under 37,000 comments – mostly complaints against the man they routinely call ‘Vermin Kerswell’ – have been posted on his crowdfunding page. ‘Vernon Kerswell is a lying piece of s--t,’ is one popular refrain among his detractors across the world. Or ‘Mr Pathetic’. Failure. Scammer. Incompetent amateur. ‘He simply has totally nothing. Apart from his lies that is,’ types another critic. Others pledge to sue him. What is the crime of this likeable, geeky 34-year-old electronics whizz, talented musician, churchgoer and Mandarin speaker? He … [Read more...] about Is this electronics whizz a genius or a conman?
DUP blocks new Northern Ireland Assembly over Brexit Protocol
The DUP will block the appointment of a speaker to the Stormont Assembly, which will stop it from working after recent elections, because of its opposition to the post Brexit Northern Ireland Protocol. Stormont’s other four major political parties attacked the DUP after its leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson said he would prevent a functioning Northern Ireland Assembly unless Boris Johnson removed or replaced the treaty. Sir Jeffrey said “I have both patience and resolve in equal measure to see the Irish Sea border removed and stable as well as sustainable devolution restored.” The move came as Dublin warned the EU would have to retaliate if the Government carried out its threats to unilaterally override the Protocol, which created the Irish Sea border between Northern Ireland and Britain. Brussels told London it would not table fresh proposals for the Protocol after Liz Truss told the European Commission she would table legislation to override the border checks next week unless the … [Read more...] about DUP blocks new Northern Ireland Assembly over Brexit Protocol
