Prince Charles is heading to Northumberland on a Royal Visit. The Prince of Wales will be in the county for two days next week and will pay visits to Hexham Abbey, Alnwick Garden and a gin distillery. His first engagements will be on Wednesday where he will firstly visit the National Landscape Discovery Centre in Bardon Mill. His Royal Highness will also visit Kielder Salmon Centre later that day as he is a Patron of Salmon & Trout Conservation UK. The visit will take place a week after The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, visits Newcastle and Gateshead. The Prince will share in the Great Exhibition of the North celebrations when he comes to the region. THE Royal Princes hit the headlines in recent months when found the strength to open up about the struggles they faced following their mother's death. And they've also joined the Duchess of Cambridge for the Heads Together campaign, which works to dispel the stigma surrounding mental health. What is Heads Together? Heads Together is a mental health campaign led by The Royal Foundation in partnership with YoungMinds and seven other charities. It aims to challenge mental health stigma and change how it is perceived. It was made the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon Charity of the Year and worked alongside ten runners with mental illnesses during the annual race. Heads Together commissioned a YouGov poll which found nearly half (46 per cent) of 5,003 adults, questioned in February, have talked recently about mental health, with a quarter chatting about their own psychological problems. Later that year, the couple made Anmer their main home as William left the RAF and became a pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Historians have reconstructed what Britain’s largest medieval fortress – Windsor Castle – originally looked like when it was built to keep the Home Counties English under control some nine and a half centuries ago. Using a series of archaeological discoveries made over recent decades, researchers have been able to calculate that the original 11th century fortress, built by William the Conqueror, was around a fifth of the size of the current castle. They have also discovered that, although it has always been a Royal fortress, the land on which it stands had to be rented from a private landlord for the first 475 years of the castle’s existence. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby will be welcomed into the world with more military showmanship and fanfare than others are privy to in their entire lives. After Kate Middleton delivered her baby boy at St Mary’s Hospital in London on Monday, the fanatical royalists who waited outside with bated breath clapped, whooped and cheered. Incredulous but excited journalists hurriedly scribbled into their notepads and cameras flashed. In the days that follow diehard royal watchers will spill onto the streets to celebrate and there will even be a 62-gun salute at the Tower of London in honour of the birth and another 41-gun salute from Green Park near Buckingham Palace.
