Isle Of Wight Festival confirms it will go ahead – but moves from June to September after lockdown roadmap announcement

The Isle Of Wight Festival has announced it will go ahead this year, but is moving from June to September following the government's roadmap out of lockdown announcement. It was originally due to run from 17 to 20 June, just ahead of the date of 21 June given by Boris Johnson as the earliest possible to lift all COVID-19 restrictions in England. There are fears many festivals planned even for after that date will still be forced to cancel due to the uncertainty over dates and large-scale events, and on Monday, organisers for rock festival Download announced they were calling it off for a second year. Kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls: ‘Repentant bandits’ key to release of the 279 students it has emerged

"Repentant bandits" helped secure the release of 279 girls kidnapped from a Nigerian boarding school, it has emerged - as the students open up about the horrors of their ordeal. A group of about 100 gunmen burst into the Girls Science Secondary School in the northwestern state of Zamfara on Friday and abducted the students . Before ransacking the school in Jangebe town, they also attacked a nearby military camp and checkpoint, preventing soldiers from stepping in. EU, US impose sanctions on Russia over Alexei Navalny poisoning

The US on Tuesday slapped sanctions on Russian individuals and entities over the near-fatal poisoning of prominent opposition figure Alexei Navalny with a nerve agent, Biden administration officials said. Speaking to reporters on a conference call, the senior White House officials said the sanctions were being imposed in coordination with the European Union, and urged the release of Navalny from prison.
