Inside Theresa May and Donald Trump's not-so-special relationship... And what does it mean for the UK? They meet, but there's no spark. Theresa wants to discuss policy, Donald wants to chat about the golf. She’s ‘weak’, ‘a schoolmistress’. He ‘spirals off topic’. The Telegraph’s US editor Ben Riley-Smith speaks to aides and confidants on both sides of the Atlantic about how the prime minister can catch the president’s eye – and whether she should even bother29 JUNE 2018 • 8:52PM As a display of Western unity, it was nothing short of a disaster. World leaders had gathered in Canada for the G7 earlier this month with low expectations. Donald Trump’s raging trade war had driven a wedge between allies, as had his withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. Even so, the conference could not have gone much worse. The US president began by proposing Russia rejoin the group, continued by rejecting demands to drop his … [Read more...] about Inside Theresa May and Donald Trump’s not-so-special relationship

DONALD Trump and his wife Melania “spend very little time together” as the Stormy Daniels affair rumbles on, it has been claimed. The US President and the First Lady have separate bedrooms and often spend days apart while The Donald runs the world’s biggest economy. A friend of the planet’s most powerful couple told the Washington Post: “They spend very little to no time together.” Another source, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, whose firm was paid $1.6million for consulting and production on Trump’s inauguration, revealed Melania is not a touchy-feely type. She said: “They are not that couple that holds hands just because; she is old-world European and it's not who she is.” But the First Lady’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham blasted a “persistent rumour” that she does not live at the White House with her husband. She said: “It's 1,000 percent false. We laugh at it all the time.” Despite rumours that … [Read more...] about Melania and Donald Trump ‘spend little or no time together and sleep in separate rooms in the White House’
Donald Trump has outlived the “axis of adults” that was supposed to guide and shape his foreign policy. He’s run through two national security advisers, innumerable lawyers and lower-level aides, an attorney general, an array of Cabinet secretaries and, any day now, the second of two White House chiefs of staff. He’s dumped the ideologist who helped elect him and never really clarified what his “America First” campaign slogan was all about anyways. But since we launched The Global Politico days after his inauguration, Trump has more than followed through on his election pledge to shake up the Washington establishment of both parties when it comes to America’s position in the world. Each week, we’ve watched as he’s reoriented — or tried to — U.S. policy toward everywhere from Iran to North Korea, Russia to our North American neighbors. In 67 episodes over the last year and 85 days, I’ve been privileged to host NATO … [Read more...] about Just how dangerous is Donald Trump?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not invited Prime Minister Theresa May or US President Donald Trump to the royal wedding. The couple will not have an official list of political leaders on the guest list when they marry on May 19th. Former US President Barack Obama has also missed out on an invitation, sources said. A Kensington Palace spokesman said: “It has been decided that an official list of political leaders - both UK and international - is not required for Prince Harry and Ms Markle’s wedding. “Her Majesty’s Government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by The Royal Household.” Royal sources said the guest list will be restricted to those who have a direct relationship with the couple, and was taken both because St George’s Chapel is relatively small, and because the prince is not in the direct line of succession. Some members of the public have received an invitation to wait in the grounds outside the chapel to watch the … [Read more...] about Royal wedding guest list: Theresa May and Donald Trump are not invited
Michelle Obama has compared Donald Trump to a neglectful parent who lets their children gorge on sweets all day and stay up late. The former first lady used the parenting allegory to compare her husband's presidency to that of his successor. “I think what we see is what happens when we take things for granted. For the eight years Barack was president, it was like having the ‘good parent’ at home,” she said at the Simmons Leadership Conference in Boston.
