The parents of a boy killed in a dog attack 12 years ago are backing the Mirror’s campaign for change, saying they do not want other families to suffer. John-Paul Massey ’s mum and dad talked about the overwhelming grief they still feel after the four-year-old was mauled to death. A 13-year-old US boy has died from his injuries a day after a sand dune he was digging in collapsed and buried him at a state park in Utah, officials have confirmed. The boy had been digging a tunnel into the dune at southern Utah's Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park when it collapsed on him on Saturday evening (local time), park rangers said. A family member alerted authorities, and rangers arrived to dig the boy out from what they said was about 2 metres of sand. Rangers and Kane County Sheriff’s deputies managed to rescue him and found he had a pulse. They administered CPR and the boy was transported to a St George hospital and then to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. But how dangerous are older drivers? There are occasional very well-publicised stories about elderly drivers going the wrong way on a motorway or dual carriageway. Only last week an 84-year-old woman died after driving the wrong way on the A1 in Northumberland. The RAC Foundation says the UK's oldest licensed driver is a 107-year-old woman, and there are 191 people over the age of 100 with a licence. They are among 4,018,900 people aged over 70 with full UK driving licences. But how dangerous are older drivers? Two months before Payton Gendron allegedly killed 10 people at a supermarket in Buffalo, in the US, he was confronted by a security guard at the store during a trip on which he compiled detailed plans of the location, according to a document posted online in April by a writer who identified himself as Gendron. “I've seen you go in and out ... For months, as 18-year-old Payton Gendron formulated a plan to kill dozens of black people in Buffalo, New York state, he worked to keep his racist plot a secret from his family, according to Gendron's postings online. "I literally can't wait any longer, my parents know something is wrong," he wrote on April 15, musing about when to carry out a planned shooting that took place on Saturday, killing 10 people at a Buffalo supermarket. The writings were uploaded to internet file-sharing sites in two batches in recent weeks after apparently being posted on the messaging platform Discord from November 2021 through early May.
