The CEO of the German Football League (DFL), which is responsible for running the Bundesliga, has spoken out after the English Premier League set a new record for a TV rights deal on Tuesday. The agreement, which is due to start in 2016, is worth 5.14 billion pounds (6.9 billion euros) to England's top league. It will see the rights to broadcast Premier League matches shared between British broadcasters Sky and BT Sport. In response to the new deal, DFL boss Christian Seifert spoke out in Germany's most popular tabloid, "Bild." He said that the deal will force German football authorities to consider whether new plans need to be introduced in order to make the German game more marketable. "If you look at the German TV market, it will not be possible any time soon for the Bundesliga to sell its rights for that much money," he said. The Leicester City story reached its jubilant crescendo on Monday as thousands turned out to revel in the side's Premier League success. Leicester, who started the season as 5,000-1 outsiders to win the league, confounded pundits and fans by clinching the title. The achievement came as richer rivals such as Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur fell by the wayside. The side, which spent a fraction of the amount on players as some of its rivals and which was nearly relegated last season, won the league by a clear 10 points . An estimated 100,000 fans packed the city streets to hail the side's stunning win, with Leicester coach Claudio Ranieri also there to soak up the celebrations.
