These miracle twin girls defied the odds after being given just a five per cent chance of survival - thanks to a life-saving operation while they were still in the womb. Keziah Harvey, 30, found out at 16 weeks pregnant her youngsters had Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome [TTTS] - a condition which affects the blood flow between identical twins while in the womb. It left the twins, which were 17 per cent different in size, with an extremely low survival rate unless they underwent pioneering laser ablation surgery to even the flow of blood from the placenta. Thankfully, mum-of-two Keziah, from Cannock, Staffordshire, took the risk to undergo the surgery despite a 70 per cent chance she would lose one or both of the babies during the op. Her healthy girls, Matilda and Felicity, were born on July 29 last year weighing 3lb 7oz and now the former dental practice manager and husband Jordan, 33, couldn't be more proud of their two little miracles. Keziah, who suffered a miscarriage before … [Read more...] about Miracle twins defy 5% survival odds thanks to life-saving op inside the womb

Getting a glimpse into the daily routines of the rich and famous is certainly fascinating – remember when Mark Wahlberg revealed he was getting up at 2.30am, working out for a total of two hours and 35 minutes over the course of the day, and playing golf on top of that? While Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey’s regime might not be quite so strict (or designed to get him in shape for a movie role), he still does some pretty brutal things every day in aid of his mental and physical health.Speaking on the Ben Greenfield Fitness podcast, the 42-year-old revealed he only eats one meal on weekdays and completely fasts over the weekend – which seems like an almost unfathomable level of self-control considering Twitter offers free food in its staff canteens. He also spoke about his use of saunas and cold water immersion therapy.“The other thing on physical health that has had probably the largest impact in terms of how I feel, but also mental clarity, is sauna and … [Read more...] about Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has a sauna and an ice bath 3 times a day: What can this do to your body?
MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry are about to welcome their first child and today, bookies have slashed odds that Baby Sussex will arrive THIS week. While it was previously thought the new arrival could share a birthday with the Queen on April 21, it's now looking more likely that we could hear the pitter patter of royal feet before Sunday. The odds that the Duchess of Sussex will give birth this week are currently standing at 2/1 - making the next few days the most likely of all. The week after - from April 15-22 stands at 4/1, with the chances of Baby Sussex being born two weeks from now - and during Prince Louis' birthday week - also standing at 4/1. It's thought Meghan and Harry's first child will arrive sooner rather than later, with the odds increasing as the weeks go on. The chances that Baby Sussex will arrive on the Queen's birthday have also dropped from 7/1 to 5/1. While Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, have not revealed the gender, nevermind the possible names of their first child, … [Read more...] about Bookies have slashed odds that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby will be born THIS week
IF you're a new self-employed mum (or soon-to-be mum) - you could be entitled to up to £145 a week in maternity allowance. The benefit is designed to help out mothers who either work for themselves or who are employed by a company but don't qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP). It can also be paid to expectant mothers who've lost or quit their jobs very recently. The maximum amount available is 90 per cent of your average weekly earnings (before tax) up to a maximum of £145.18 a week for 39 weeks. You can start claiming from the 26th week of your pregnancy, but the earliest you'll start receiving payments is 11 weeks before your due date. But how much you get and how many weeks it is paid for depends on your employment situation. People who get maternity allowance also get Class 1 national insurance credits - which can help you build up your state pension - so it's worth claiming even if you don't get the full amount. Research published earlier this year suggested that … [Read more...] about New mums can get up to £145 a week in maternity pay – even if you don’t have a job or boss
A couple have been left with a "mountain" of rotting rubbish in the garden of their new home after the council failed to supply them with a black bin. Samuel Coulson, 24, and his pregnant girlfriend Kelsie Acey, 21, have been nagging Hull City Council for a black bin since they moved into their house in Kingswood on February 15. But despite dozens of phone calls, the couple, who live with their ten-month-old daughter, were fobbed off - without any real answers. The frustrated couple approached Hull Live for help after seeing their neighbours get their bins. The household rubbish includes dirty nappies and they say the smell is unbearable. Miss Acey, who is due to give birth to her second child in September, said she's tried to be patient, but now describes it as a "health hazard." She said: "We've rang dozens of times, it's a complete pain and we just want the bin so we can move the rubbish from the garden. "When the black bin men have been I've asked them to take it and they've me, … [Read more...] about Family’s anger as they are left without bin for 5 weeks
