Dominic Cummings claims Boris often said ‘I’m the f***ing Fuhrer around here’

May 25, 2022 by metro.co.uk

Dominic Cummings has claimed that Boris Johnson repeatedly told colleagues ‘I’m the f***ing Fuhrer around here’. The Prime Minister’s former chief aide – turned arch critic – suggested Mr Johnson ‘doesn’t think he did anything wrong’ during the partygate scandal. The intervention follows the publication of the Sue Gray report today, which laid bare the scale of partying in Number 10 during the Covid crisis. Mr Cummings, who himself caused widespread public outrage with a trip to Barnard Castle during lockdown, has repeatedly called for the PM to go and made a series of remarkable claims about his former boss’ conduct. Now he has suggested that the PM thinks he behaved appropriately during the whole affair, despite a series of grovelling apologies today. But Mr Johnson has also repeatedly claimed that he thought he was at a work event for the gathering he was fined by by the Metropolitan Police. He played down the severity of the incident despite it making him … [Read more...] about Dominic Cummings claims Boris often said ‘I’m the f***ing Fuhrer around here’

Pay-per-view: BBC News presenter goes on screen with wad of A4 sheets after mistaking it for iPad

September 18, 2013 by metro.co.uk

A presumably tired BBC News presenter raised a few eyebrows when he delivered a live bulletin holding a stack of photocopier paper which he mistook for his iPad. Simon McCoy was doing a piece to camera in the TV studio talking about ‘ drunk tanks ’ when he accidentally picked up a pile of A4 paper instead of his Apple tablet. Ever the professional, the 51-year-old kept on going without a peep despite his hilarious mistake, while baffled viewers tried to imagine what was going on. ‘This morning as Simon McCoy was preparing to introduce this story, instead of picking up his tablet to hold as he went to air, he mistakenly picked up a ream of paper that was sitting next to it,’ said a spokeswoman for BBC News. Why is @simonmccoy using a pack of printer paper as his iPad??? #bbcnewschannel pic.twitter.com/fY22aiGAsr — Steve Holden (@SteveH1982) September 18, 2013 ‘In the rush of live news, he didn’t have an opportunity to swap the items, so simply went with … [Read more...] about Pay-per-view: BBC News presenter goes on screen with wad of A4 sheets after mistaking it for iPad

Tukapa ready for latest round of the CMK premier club rugby competition

May 26, 2022 by www.stuff.co.nz

Tukapa co-coach Ben Siffleet doesn’t feel hard done by. His team was the only unbeaten side after the watered-down version of the first round in the CMK premier club rugby competition yet walked away with nothing. Saturday’s opponents New Plymouth Old Boys (NPOB) bagged finals hosting rights despite winning two matches but relied on their other afternoon teams to increase their chances to host the day. They also claimed prize money from Taranaki Rugby. Siffleet said he knew what they were in for when the changes to the season were announced. “We knew the rules at the start,” he said. “As a club we are building great depth across the four [afternoon] teams.” He managed to give the large premier squad “good minutes” in the opening three weeks. With the second instalment of the cross-town rivalry on Saturday at Sanders Park, Siffleet will look at combinations as the second round kicks off. “We want to play consistent footy and keep building each week,” he said. It … [Read more...] about Tukapa ready for latest round of the CMK premier club rugby competition

Elon Musk locks horns with Bill Gates amid claims ex-Microsoft CEO funds his critics

May 25, 2022 by www.dailystar.co.uk

The world's current richest man is locking horns with the world's former richest man once more, as SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has responded to claims that fellow billionaire Bill Gates is funding his critics. Musk tweeted 'sigh' on Tuesday in response to an article claiming the Gates Foundation donated 'hundreds of millions of dollars' to a campaign callling for a boycott of Twitter if Musk takes over. The article claims that the Gates Foundation donated money to 11 out of 26 of those who signed an open letter supporting the boycott. The spat follows criticism of Musk by Gates, who said Musk could make misinformation 'worse' by buying Twitter. Gates reportedly said: "He could actually make it worse. That's not his track record. His track record with Tesla and SpaceX is pretty mind-blowing at putting together a great team of engineers and taking people who work in those fields in a less bold way and really showing them up. "I kind of doubt that'll happen this time but we … [Read more...] about Elon Musk locks horns with Bill Gates amid claims ex-Microsoft CEO funds his critics

Kim Kardashian claims sister Kylie Jenner is notorious for stealing her clothes

Kim Kardashian has admitted that her and her sisters often share outfits - but you don't expect to get it back if Kylie Jenner takes it. The famous family are known for their outlandish style and figure hugging outfits, but like most families, they seemingly enjoy raiding each other's wardrobes. However, Kim, 41, insisted Kylie, 24, isn't one for giving back and instead she needs to turn up at her house and just take it back from her younger sibling. Speaking to E! News at the Revolve Fest Coachella over the weekend, Kim said: "I think we're all pretty chill [when it comes to sharing]. "I would say if Kylie were to borrow, I don't think you'll ever get it back. I will say that." Kim then joked: "We'll just show up to the house and take it. We'll just go right in their closet and take it." Monday morning news briefing: Emmanuel Macron’s election victory

April 25, 2022 by www.telegraph.co.uk

After a polarising contest, Emmanuel Macron has become the first French president in 20 years to be elected for a second straight term. Close to tears, he insisted that he owed his re-election to reluctant voters who backed him to keep Marine Le Pen out of power . Standing in front of the Eiffel Tower, Mr Macron said: "Many of our compatriots voted for me not out of support for my ideas but to block those of the extreme Right." He told those who abstained or voted for Ms Le Pen that he understood their anger, adding: "I know how much I owe to you." Yet Ms Le Pen celebrated the result as taking her closer to power than ever . France correspondent Henry Samuel examines what is in Mr Macron's in-tray for his five-year term and Europe editor James Crisp explains why it will not mean a swift end to Brexit tensions with France. Putin will 'manipulate' UN chief's visit to Moscow Boris Johnson has warned the UN Secretary General that Vladimir Putin will try to … [Read more...] about Monday morning news briefing: Emmanuel Macron’s election victory
