9 Best oven cleaners 2021 – From Mr Muscle to the Pink Stuff these products will leave your oven sparkling

· February 25, 2021 ·

OVEN cleaning is probably top of the list of chores we least want to do - but we really should, especially considering most meals we make involve an oven, whether we're baking, grilling veg or roasting meat. It's a good idea to give your oven a deep clean every month or so, and your oven will also benefit from a weekly surface clean - the best oven cleaners can help. Cleaning your oven isn't just about getting that oven glistening: your oven performs less well if it's covered in grime, as well as affecting how your food turns out. And tastes. There are natural oven cleaners - baking soda and vinegar tend to be popular DIY methods, and some people add dish soap, too - available, as well as eco alternatives. For a stronger clean, you can always choose an oven cleaner with more potent ingredients, although make sure to wear rubber gloves and ensure there's proper ventilation in your kitchen before using these. The best way to use an oven cleaner is to let it sit for a few hours … [Read more...] about 9 Best oven cleaners 2021 – From Mr Muscle to the Pink Stuff these products will leave your oven sparkling

Detained and beaten: Why crew risked their lives to make film about insurgency victims in Nigeria

· February 24, 2021 ·

In the opening minutes of The Milkmaid, the joyous occasion of a wedding in a west African village turns into something unimaginable as terrorists attack. People try to flee, some are shot down, some slaughtered with machetes; a baby stares out over a mother's lifeless body. This film is the story of the women who escape these attacks with their lives, but pay the price. Taken from their homes, their loved ones, they face beatings, rapes, death, even indoctrination into a life of extremism themselves. While The Milkmaid's central characters, sisters Aisha (Anthonieta Kalunta ) and Zainab (Maryam Booth), are fictional, their stories are all too real. Since the uprising of the Boko Haram militant group began in northern Nigeria in 2009, more than 30,000 people have been killed and about two million forced to flee their homes. Advertisement In December, the jihadist group purported to be behind the kidnapping of 300 young boys in an armed attack … [Read more...] about Detained and beaten: Why crew risked their lives to make film about insurgency victims in Nigeria

Primary in sleepy rural village becomes Britain’s first net-zero school

· February 26, 2021 ·

A LITTLE primary in a sleepy countryside village has become Britain’s first net-zero school. St Andrew’s CofE Primary School in Chedworth village in Gloucestershire has carried out a string of upgrades to slash emissions. The youngsters are recycling everything and have even ditched their gluesticks in favour of more environmentally friendly options. The school has changed their high ceilings to bring them closer to the floor to stop heat escaping, and solar panels are set to be installed. Headteacher, Mrs Nikita Smith, said she had been inspired by her own kids' passion for the planet. She wanted to show them everyone could make a difference to help go green. She told The Sun it was a "moral" decision for her to act now for future generations. Mrs Smith said: "It is vital that we teach children that what they do matters, whether this be in their actions towards our planet, or actions towards each other. "Both the parents and kids are so passionate about it - … [Read more...] about Primary in sleepy rural village becomes Britain’s first net-zero school

How climate change paved the way to war in Syria

· January 26, 2021 ·

"Syria serves as prime example for the impact of climate change on pre-existing issues such as political instability, poverty and scarce resources," Jamal Saghir, Professor at the Institute for the Study of International Development at McGill University, told DW. Saghir, a former director at the World Bank, considers climate change the world's biggest threat to security. He therefore sees the recent acknowledgment of climate change as a national security issue by US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd J. Austin III, on January 27, as game changer when it comes to recognizing the link between climate change and conflict. The last drought from 2006-2010 was the fiercest since droughts have been recorded, or about 900 years The dire case of Syria In the past, Syria's farmers have benefited from relatively fertile and productive lands, as well as the state's promotion of staple crop production between the 1970s and 1990s. The country of around 17 million people has been hit by three … [Read more...] about How climate change paved the way to war in Syria
