Pointless fans all have the same complaint about BBC game show – and demand big change
POINTLESS fans have all had the same complaint about the BBC game show - and demand a big change. The show - hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman - has been on our screens since August 2009. The show sees four pairs answer questions on various subjects, with the team with the highest score leaving at the end of each round until one remains. Then in the final round, the last pair standing get a choice of topics to try and find a Pointless answer to, with the chance of winning the jackpot if they succeed. If they fail to get a pointless answer, the jackpot rolls over to the next show, where another £1000 will be added. While some contestants have been lucky to win a large amount of money after a run of rollovers, most face the prospect of winning the basic £1000. Boston Celtics center Al Horford, guard Marcus Smart to play in Game 2 against Miami Heat
MIAMI -- The Boston Celtics had both Al Horford and Marcus Smart back in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals on Thursday against the Miami Heat . Horford, who abruptly went into the NBA's health and safety protocols a couple of hours before Boston's 118-107 Game 1 loss on Tuesday, was upgraded to doubtful Wednesday evening and then was rapidly upgraded from questionable to available in the span of about 90 minutes Thursday. Smart, who missed Game 1 because of a midfoot sprain that he suffered in Game 7 against the Milwaukee Bucks , was listed as probable to play. Celtics coach Ime Udoka confirmed that both players will play in Thursday's game and are a "full go" from a minutes standpoint. "[Horford] passed all the protocols, passed all the tests," Udoka said. "I'm not a doctor, but he had to pass a certain amount of tests and you know, league protocols, and so he did and he was feeling fine from the get-go. Happy to have him back." … [Read more...] about Boston Celtics center Al Horford, guard Marcus Smart to play in Game 2 against Miami Heat
‘It would damage the game hugely’ – Tom Watson criticises the Saudi-backed Super Golf League
Tom Watson believes the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational Series will damage the game of golf but has cast doubt on the new tour’s long-term success. The eight-time major winner is now one of golf’s legends but, over 40 years ago, Watson could have been part of a breakaway tour which was being launched by Mark McCormack, the founder of the well-known sports agency IMG. Greg Norman. the two-time Open champion, is fronting golf’s latest attempt to form a new tour to rival the PGA and DP World Tours and is trying to tempt elite players to join LIV Golf with huge signing-on fees. The likes of Lee Westwood and Phil Mickelson, who will not be defending his US PGA Championship this week, have requested releases to play in Norman’s first event at the Centurion Club in St Albans next month but have been refused permission by the PGA Tour. Players who feature on the breakaway circuit risk being issued with a lifetime ban from the PGA Tour and Watson, 72, thinks golfers will … [Read more...] about ‘It would damage the game hugely’ – Tom Watson criticises the Saudi-backed Super Golf League
Bungie won’t be ‘muzzled’ by Sony over abortion rights comments
While Insomniac is forced to keep quiet about the abortion rights debate in the US, Bungie pledges not to be silenced by its new owner. While the majority of the games industry has kept quiet over the leaked Supreme Court draft, that says it will overturn the Roe v. Wade abortion ruling in the US, Bungie was the first studio to publicly decry it . Shortly after the leak broke, Bungie called the potential decision ‘a blow to freedom in America and … a direct attack on human rights,’ promising to support any employees that would be affected. That’s not Sony’s take on the issue though, as PlayStation boss Jim Ryan recently sent out a letter to employees asking them to ‘respect differences of opinion among everyone’ regarding the issue. With Bungie set to become a first party Sony studio , there are concerns that its new owner will attempt to silence Bungie and prevent it from taking public stances like this in the future. However, Bungie itself has promised that … [Read more...] about Bungie won’t be ‘muzzled’ by Sony over abortion rights comments
Path Of Exile removes hated feature with newest update
Loot focused action role-playing game, Path Of Exile, has released its 37th challenge league, with fans across Reddit complaining about the difficulty spike compared to previous releases. Developer Grinding Gear Games has taken their community’s advice and removed a modifier that used to make enemies more difficult while playing through the game. The ‘invulnerable’ modifier would make certain enemies invincible to player attacks, causing progression issues as you’re hounded by an unkillable beast. Path Of Exile’s 37th league is called Sentinel and combines every other major addition to the game on top of the new content. Sentinel features an optional robotic companion who will assist in battle but also raises the difficulty to earn better loot in battle. However, the inclusion of a robot that makes things difficult isn’t the issue, as it’s the last league’s inclusion of the Archnemesis mechanic – which got some changes too – that has been causing the issue. … [Read more...] about Path Of Exile removes hated feature with newest update
Watch: Mariupol medic’s hospital footage smuggled from war zone
In a makeshift operating theatre in Mariupol, a celebrated Ukrainian medic pleads with a critically-wounded and bloodied boy to “stay with me, little one”. He had arrived with his wounded sister from a shoot-out at a checkpoint in the town besieged by Russian forces and in which their parents both died. Using a body camera given to her by Prince Harry, Yuliia Paievska, known in Ukraine as Taira – a moniker from the nickname she chose in the World of Warcraft video game – films the tragic moment when she closes his eyes with her fingers. Turning away from his lifeless body, the medic breaks down in tears. “I hate [this],” she sobs, closing her eyes. As always, she has a stuffed animal attached to her vest to hand to any children she might treat. Such terrible scenes would never have reached the wider world had Taira, 53, not managed to smuggle hundreds of hours of footage out of Mariupol – on a data card no bigger than a thumbnail – in a tampon. It … [Read more...] about Watch: Mariupol medic’s hospital footage smuggled from war zone
