Pointless fans all have the same complaint about BBC game show – and demand big change
POINTLESS fans have all had the same complaint about the BBC game show - and demand a big change. The show - hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman - has been on our screens since August 2009. The show sees four pairs answer questions on various subjects, with the team with the highest score leaving at the end of each round until one remains. Then in the final round, the last pair standing get a choice of topics to try and find a Pointless answer to, with the chance of winning the jackpot if they succeed. If they fail to get a pointless answer, the jackpot rolls over to the next show, where another £1000 will be added. While some contestants have been lucky to win a large amount of money after a run of rollovers, most face the prospect of winning the basic £1000. Boston Celtics center Al Horford, guard Marcus Smart to play in Game 2 against Miami Heat
MIAMI -- The Boston Celtics had both Al Horford and Marcus Smart back in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals on Thursday against the Miami Heat . Horford, who abruptly went into the NBA's health and safety protocols a couple of hours before Boston's 118-107 Game 1 loss on Tuesday, was upgraded to doubtful Wednesday evening and then was rapidly upgraded from questionable to available in the span of about 90 minutes Thursday. Smart, who missed Game 1 because of a midfoot sprain that he suffered in Game 7 against the Milwaukee Bucks , was listed as probable to play. Celtics coach Ime Udoka confirmed that both players will play in Thursday's game and are a "full go" from a minutes standpoint. "[Horford] passed all the protocols, passed all the tests," Udoka said. "I'm not a doctor, but he had to pass a certain amount of tests and you know, league protocols, and so he did and he was feeling fine from the get-go. Happy to have him back." … [Read more...] about Boston Celtics center Al Horford, guard Marcus Smart to play in Game 2 against Miami Heat
‘It would damage the game hugely’ – Tom Watson criticises the Saudi-backed Super Golf League
Tom Watson believes the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational Series will damage the game of golf but has cast doubt on the new tour’s long-term success. The eight-time major winner is now one of golf’s legends but, over 40 years ago, Watson could have been part of a breakaway tour which was being launched by Mark McCormack, the founder of the well-known sports agency IMG. Greg Norman. the two-time Open champion, is fronting golf’s latest attempt to form a new tour to rival the PGA and DP World Tours and is trying to tempt elite players to join LIV Golf with huge signing-on fees. The likes of Lee Westwood and Phil Mickelson, who will not be defending his US PGA Championship this week, have requested releases to play in Norman’s first event at the Centurion Club in St Albans next month but have been refused permission by the PGA Tour. Players who feature on the breakaway circuit risk being issued with a lifetime ban from the PGA Tour and Watson, 72, thinks golfers will … [Read more...] about ‘It would damage the game hugely’ – Tom Watson criticises the Saudi-backed Super Golf League

Surprise surprise, the NHS has spent its windfall on yet more waste and wokery
The phone must have woken me. I reached out a bleary hand for it and saw the time: 3.04am. A text had just arrived from Sophie. She said she was in Accident & Emergency with Freddie, aged 19 months, who had a raging ear infection (a recurring condition) and, just to add to the fun, this time he had a swollen penis as well. “We’ve been here for six-and-a-half hours. It’s unreal,” Sophie said. “Go to the desk right NOW and tell them your baby has a fever and needs to be seen,” I typed furiously. “I did,” Sophie replied. “They said it could be a 12-hour wait.” The previous afternoon Sophie had Googled “baby with swollen penis” and read that it was “very important to see your GP”. She drove to the surgery with Freddie and banged on the door. The surgery was deserted. Eventually, a doctor wearing full PPI appeared, opened the door and asked Sophie: “What are you doing here?” “My baby’s got a temperature and there is pus coming out of his…” “Go home, and call 111,” said the GP, … [Read more...] about Surprise surprise, the NHS has spent its windfall on yet more waste and wokery
Dominic Calvert-Lewin sends message to Everton fans amid Arsenal transfer interest
Dominic Calver-Lewin has underlined his commitment to Everton after scoring the winner that confirmed their Premier League survival. The Toffees found themselves two goals down at half-time against Crystal Palace in their penultimate game of the season on Thursday night. Roared on by the Goodison Park crowd however, Everton fought back through goals from Michael Keane and Richarlison before Calvert-Lewin’s diving header sealed all three points. The Everton striker is said to be among Arsenal ’s list of striker targets with the Gunners set to lose both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah at the end of the season. While a new striker is set to be a priority for Mikel Arteta, Calvert-Lewin hopes his winner on Merseyside shows where his priorities lie. ‘What a rollercoaster football is some times,’ Calvert-Lewin told Sky Sports. ‘It is why we love the game and why the fans love it. Ideally we wouldn’t be in the situation we have been but when it produces … [Read more...] about Dominic Calvert-Lewin sends message to Everton fans amid Arsenal transfer interest
