Going on holiday can be a bit stressful when it comes to packing. You never know what kind of weather you’ll get, if you’ve got enough suncream or if you need more towels. But, one aspect of packing that might really put a bump in the road as you prepare to jet off is unwittingly carrying items that are banned from being on planes. Or, not realising that certain items count towards your liquids limit of one litre divided into 100ml packs. Security will likely pick up on goods which are not allowed and they could be confiscated. Woman catches ‘weirdo’ taking photos of her feet on plane during flight
A woman shared her gruesome flight experience online after catching a fellow plane passenger "taking pictures of her feet" – without her permission. Alina, 23, branded the bloke a "weirdo" on TikTok after taking a Delta Airlines flight from Florida. She turned to her followers asking: "What the f*** am I supposed to say?" The short video appears to show the man turning his phone camera towards Alina and pointing it downwards, before clicking the shutter to snap a picture of her feet. He then appears to review the photo while sitting right next to Alina. "I posted this video because I thought it was funny. I do have shoes on and no, I don't know they guy," she explained in the comments. Viewers shared their thoughts to Alina – and most of them agreed that she should have "charged him" for taking the photos. "Just say, 'that'll be $450'," a viewer joked and a second said: "I would have been like 'excuse me sir, you need to pay for that'." Others blasted the man's … [Read more...] about Woman catches ‘weirdo’ taking photos of her feet on plane during flight
China Eastern plane crash likely intentional, US reports say
Published 17 hours ago Share close Share page Copy link About sharing Flight data indicates a China Eastern Airlines plane that crashed in March was intentionally put into a nose-dive, according to US media reports. Investigators have so far not found any mechanical or technical faults with the jet, the reports say, citing a preliminary assessment by US officials. The Boeing 737-800 was flying between the southern Chinese cities of Kunming and Guangzhou when it crashed. All 132 passengers and crew on board the plane died in the crash. "The plane did what it was told to do by someone in the cockpit," according to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the story, citing a person familiar with US officials' preliminary assessment of the cause of the crash. Data from one of the plane's "black box" flight recorders, which was recovered from the crash site, suggested that inputs … [Read more...] about China Eastern plane crash likely intentional, US reports say

US Congress dives into UFOs, but still no signs of extraterrestrial life
The United States Congress held its first hearing in half a century Tuesday (local time) on unidentified flying objects. And no, there is still no government confirmation of extraterrestrial life. Testifying before a House Intelligence subcommittee, Pentagon officials did not disclose additional information from their ongoing investigation of hundreds of unexplained sightings in the sky. But they said they had picked a director for a new task force to co-ordinate data collection efforts on what the government has officially labelled “unidentified aerial phenomena”. Ronald Moultrie, the undersecretary of defence for intelligence, said the Pentagon was also trying to destigmatize the issue and encourage pilots and other military personnel to report anything unusual they see. “We want to know what's out there as much as you want to know what's out there,” Moultrie told politicians, adding that he was a fan of science fiction himself. Jetstar Dreamliner grounded after being badly damaged by lightning
SUPPLIED The 787 was struck on a recent flight in Australia. The airline said there was no threat to passenger safety. A Jetstar Boeing 787 in Australia will be out of service for up to two months after a lightning strike inflicted significant damage on the jet during a flight from Melbourne to the Gold Coast earlier this month. Images obtained by the Sydney Morning Herald show burn marks and dozens of small holes punctured on the underside of the Dreamliner’s fuselage, which airline crew discovered following a flight from Melbourne on May 7. The Qantas-owned budget airline said planes are designed to withstand lightning strikes and continue to fly safely, and that “at no point was the safety of the aircraft compromised”. Aircraft lightning strikes are a daily occurrence, with estimates that every passenger plane is hit once or twice every year, but they rarely result in damage. US airport security apologises for treatment of breastfeeding mum
The US Transportation Security Administration said a recent screening of a breastfeeding mother "did not meet our standards." The agency also said it apologised to Emily Calandrelli in the days after a viral tweet on her security screening at Los Angeles International Airport. Calandrelli, host of Emily's Wonder Lab on Netflix, was travelling Monday when a TSA agent flagged ice packs in her carry-on bag. Away from her 10-week-old son for the first time, the mother of two had packed a breast pump and two gel ice packs ahead of a two-day work trip, and was hoping to pump one last time before departing for a flight to D.C. First Syria, now Ukraine – Britain cannot backstab its allies over chemical weapons again
It was the hottest night of late August 2013 in a sweltering Paris, as the recently elected socialist President of France, François Hollande, waited in his Elysée office to give an order that would have changed history. Ten days earlier more than 1400 innocent people had been killed in a Sarin gas attack on the outskirts of Damascus. The use of chemical weapons by Bashar al-Assad in Syria, an hour’s flight from the European Union, in a genocidal attack on his own people marked a new turn in 21st century history. France’s conservative President Chirac had played endless games a decade earlier on whether he would or would not stand with the US, UK and most EU democracies (other than Germany) in stopping Saddam Hussein from defying UN resolutions. In contrast, socialist Hollande was clear that the Syrian dictator, now in close alliance with Russia’s Vladimir Putin , had to be faced down. After joint planning with Washington, he ordered Rafale warplanes equipped … [Read more...] about First Syria, now Ukraine – Britain cannot backstab its allies over chemical weapons again
