A dangerous heat wave is expected to grip a wide stretch of the South and Midwest as forecasters warn of heat indexes as high as 117 degrees, creating a 'ring of fire' that could threaten 40 million people. Parts of 13 states on Monday will be under heat advisories, from Texas, Louisiana and Florida in the South to Missouri and Illinois in the Midwest, the National Weather Service reported. According to The Weather Channel, the 'ring of fire' starts off with oppressive heat and humidity, and ends with damaging storms. The 'ring of fire' is formed when sinking air associated with a strong upper-level high-pressure system leads to very hot temperatures near its core. Disturbances then form a ring around the high's clockwise flow and tap into moisture, resulting in bouts of storms. The storms started in parts of the Midwest on Monday and they will continue throughout the South and Midwest into Sunday. Forecasters are warning of scorching heat across a … [Read more...] about The scorching states of America! New York City set to ‘BAN’ paper receipts over links to breast cancer and infertility
NEW York City councillors are considering a ban on till and cash machine receipts because they contain a chemical linked to cancer and infertility. They want to make retailers email receipts instead to protect shoppers' health while also cutting paper waste. Most receipts are printed on thermal paper which is coated with Bisphenol A (BPA) or a related chemical Bisphenol S (BPS). They mimic the female hormone oestrogen and disrupt the body's endocrine system - the collection of glands that produce hormones. Studies have found it may increase the risk of breast cancer and male infertility, and it has also been linked topremature births, diabetes, obesity and genital deformities. New York State has banned the use of BPA in baby bottles and other food and drink containers over health fears.Governor Andrew Cuomo has also banned flavoured e-cigarettes after claims they damage vapers' lungs and can even kill. Man City set to beat Man Utd to £105m Joao Felix as Portuguese whizkid wanted in transfer tussle with Real Madrid and Juventus
PEP GUARDIOLA is set to win the £105million race for Portuguese whizkid Joao Felix. Manchester City are in a four-way scramble with neighbours Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus over Benfica’s 19-year-old attacking midfielder. But the Etihad boss is in pole position to land Felix after City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain flew to Lisbon to watch the youngster in last week’s 3-0 Europa League win over Dinamo Zagreb last week. Super agent Jorge Mendes was also at the Estadio da Luz that night representing Juve. He is believed to have held initial talks over a deal with the Portuguese club’s hierarchy. Man City 2 Napoli 1: Sensational City survive late pressure to pass first real test of the season
Having cut through the Italian league leaders with a fantasy football performance in the first-half, Manchester City were almost lacerated themselves. After the awe there was the shock. Napoli were named as one of the best three sides in Europe by Pep Guardiola and he took that a stage further afterwards by hailing them as one of the best teams he has ever faced; either as a player or a coach. The way in which the City manager celebrated his side’s two goals against them, and the agitation he showed towards the fourth official, fellow Spaniard Teodoro Sobrino, as the five minutes of added time dragged showed the danger they posed. In the end there was relief at the Etihad, whereas inside 15 minutes it appeared set to be another City romp, a Champions League statement of intent having set down several markers already in the Premier League with scores of five, six and seven. Maybe City would thump Napoli, pushing aside a free-scoring team who had won all eight of … [Read more...] about Man City 2 Napoli 1: Sensational City survive late pressure to pass first real test of the season
