· March 3, 2021 ·

GIANLUIGI BUFFON could extend his career yet again this summer - but will finally hang up his gloves by 2023. The Italian goalkeeper, who boasts a World Cup, ten Serie A titles and a host of other trophies and records from a long playing career, turned 43 in January. Yet he continues to be a part of a Juventus side challenging on multiple fronts, coached by old team-mate Andrea Pirlo. In ten appearances this season, the veteran has kept six clean sheets including a 3-0 romp past Barcelona at the Camp Nou in the Champions League group stage. Buffon's contract expires at the end of the campaign but the prospect of a new deal is on the horizon. The keeper told the Guardian : "I’ve learned nothing is certain in life." He added: "Look, in my head, there truly is a final stop sign. "A maximum bar, which is June 2023, that is the maximum, really, really the maximum. I wouldn’t be caught dead in Primark & Michael Kors is for those wishing to be rich, my designer wardrobe is over £1M

· February 23, 2021 ·

HORDES of young women can’t wait for Primark to throw open its doors once lockdown eases, but Saffron Drewitt-Barlow is most definitely not among them. She’s branded the budget retailer one of several “sh*t shops” she’d never dream of splashing her, considerable, cash in. The 21-year-old daughter of Britain’s first gay dads , ex-couple and multi-millionaires Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow, thinks nothing of buying up $50,000 trainers, Chanel dresses or Louis Vuitton bags on a whim. Worn just once, they sit in one of her several multi-million pound wardrobes, with anything that doesn’t fit given to a mate because who can be bothered with returns? It’s all part of Saffron’s Absolutely Fabulous life , which she’s detailing in her new Fabulous column. She’s already touched on the unusual family dynamic which sees her living with her dads AND their new partners (with Barrie, 50, now dating her ex Scott, 27) and her surgery plans. This week it’s all about fashion… and … [Read more...] about I wouldn’t be caught dead in Primark & Michael Kors is for those wishing to be rich, my designer wardrobe is over £1M

Google parent company Alphabet on verge of trillion-dollar valuation

· January 13, 2020 ·

G oogle's parent company Alphabet is on the verge of hitting a trillion-dollar stock market value for the first time, potentially becoming the fourth of the major US technology companies to reach the milestone. Alphabet’s market value sat at around $990bn (£762bn) as of Monday evening, as investors brushed off months of employee spats, the departure of its co-founders and ongoing competition and data privacy investigations. Shares have climbed by 7pc this year and by more than a third in the last 12 months as it core internet advertising business continues to grow strongly, despite repeated predictions of a slowdown. If it hits the trillion-dollar mark, it will be only the fourth US company in history to do so, following Apple, Amazon and Microsoft, which have reached the level in the last two years. It comes despite the company facing the prospect of stricter regulation in the US and UK, where officials are investigating whether it has abused the dominant position of its … [Read more...] about Google parent company Alphabet on verge of trillion-dollar valuation

Correct way to pronounce Aldi and Lidl – we’ve been saying them all wrong

· March 3, 2021 ·

With their unbeatable prices and quality products, it's hardly surprising that shoppers have ranked Aldi and Lidl the UK's top in-store supermarket over their competitors. Aldi recently beat stiff competition from rival supermarkets like Asda, M&S and Sainsbury's to receive a five-star rating for value for money and a 73 per cent overall score for customer satisfaction, whilst Lidl came in third place with a score of 67 per cent in an annual Which? report. But despite Aldi and Lidl taking the UK by storm with their simple, high quality at low prices vision, it seems many of us are still having a pretty hard time working out how to pronounce these supermarket names correctly - and you might be stunned to find out you've been saying them all wrong. First off, when it comes to Aldi, many people tend to say drag out the 'A' syllable. But, according to the retailer itself, we should be saying Al-di. The name actually came from the surname of the brothers who started the … [Read more...] about Correct way to pronounce Aldi and Lidl – we’ve been saying them all wrong
