But one woman has asked for advice after her husband complained over her shaving routine following the birth of their child. And many will get rid of any unwanted body hair before they hit the beach or pool. Waxing your bikini areas is an established method of quickly removing hair, but experts have warned it could lead to a permanent skin disfigurement. Dr Anjali Mahto, a spokesperson for the British Skin Foundation, warned that thousands of women were at risk of developing keloid scars. Different from normal scars, the NHS describes keloids as larger, lumpier, harder and rubbery. The scar ‘overgrows’ and often becomes larger than the original wound. Dr Mahto, a consultant dermatologist, warned women with a family history of keloids to be extremely careful when shaving or waxing, taking extra care to avoid cuts or nicks.
