HOLIDAYMAKERS jetting off for some winter sun should change their pounds into dollars or euros now to get the most for their cash, experts are warning. MPs are due to cast their votes on Theresa May's Brexit deal in the Commons tonight, which could end up causing the pound to crash. If sterling weakens, so will the exchange rates and your money won't stretch as far when holidaying abroad, but of course it could also strengthen making it go further. Today, the pound is down 14 per cent against the Euro, and down 13 per cent against the dollar compared to the day of the Brexit Referendum in 2016, giving you £158 fewer euros on £1,000 and £149 fewer dollars, according to FairFX. Nearly 40 per cent of parents who pay their child maintenance through a government scheme in Coventry are failing to pay their ex-partners. Newly released figures from the Department for Work and Pensions show that around 770 parents were due to pay support through the Child Maintenance Service in Coventry between April and June 2018. Of them, 36 per cent had their payments in arrears - down from 38 per cent in the first quarter of 2018. The charity for single-parent families, Gingerbread, said the rate of non-compliance in Britain, about 37 per cent, is "worryingly high". The Government payment service, Collect & Pay, is part of the Child Maintenance Service (CMS), which was set up in 2012 to replace the Child Support Agency. The CMS can take money from a parent's earnings or their bank account if they try to avoid payments, or take a parent to court. Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Julia Mulligan is asking North Yorkshire residents how much they are willing to pay in their council tax bill for North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Setting the charge known as the precept for 2019/20 is part of Julia’s role. She has consulted on the policing precept since she became the Commissioner in 2012 but is consulting on the fire and rescue service precept for the first time this year, following transfer of governance.The survey, which will be carried out by telephone to a representative sample, and online where any resident can have their say, is under way and will remain open until January 18.Residents will be asked how much they would be prepared to pay per year in their council tax bill.
