Jeff Zillgitt USA TODAY Published 9:30 PM EDT Jul 11, 2019 Russell Westbrook and James Harden are teammates again — this time with the Houston Rockets. And now the Rockets have the 2017 MVP (Westbrook) and 2018 MVP (Harden). Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti continues to reshape the team's future, sending Westbrook to the Rockets for Chris Paul and two first-round draft picks, a person familiar with the deal told USA TODAY Sports. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly until the deal is announced by the teams. Oklahoma City in the past week has moved fast when it comes to trading All-Stars. First, it was Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers, and now it’s Westbrook to the Rockets, where he will join former Thunder teammate Harden. After the Thunder traded George for five first-round round picks, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Danilo Gallinari, it became apparent Westbrook’s time in Oklahoma City was … [Read more...] about Russell Westbrook traded for Chris Paul in blockbuster deal
Kawhi Leonard, who led the Toronto Raptors to last month's NBA title, agreed to a four-year deal worth $142 million with the Los Angeles Clippers, who also landed playmaker Paul George, according to multiple reports. The blockbuster deal announced by ESPN, USA Today and several other media outlets is part of a reshaping of the NBA that leaves next season wide open without a heavy favorite from either the Eastern or Western Conference. The Clippers' moves added superstar skills to an already solid team that went 48-34 last season, losing to Golden State in the first round of the NBA playoffs. The club, founded in 1970, has never reached a conference final. Leonard was named NBA Finals Most Valuable Player in leading the Raptors to the crown. Toronto and the LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers tried in vain to sign him for next season. It was the second NBA Finals MVP award for Leonard, the 28-year-old forward who also won the honor with San Antonio in 2014. Leonard, who returns to his … [Read more...] about Kawhi joins Clippers, George follows in NBA blockbuster

Sir Paul McCartney has blasted government incompetence and a catalogue of errors that has seen a city institution miss out on £16m. The Beatles legend has been left furious after the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) that he co-founded was left facing an uncertain future after what he called an 'injustice'. An investigation is now underway by the Parliamentary Ombudsman, looking at how the Office for Students (then the HEFCE) disqualified LIPA from a funding process which the institution believes was 'botched' and riddled with errors. Responsible for the distribution of funding for higher education to universities, HEFCE failed LIPA at the first stage of the process in 2016. Despite being allowed to proceed to the next stage of the funding process - following a subsequent successful appeal - LIPA discovered all the fund had already been allocated. LIPA, founded 24 years ago, says the 'series of errors', made in 2016, has cost the institute some £16 million in … [Read more...] about Paul McCartney furious with government over ‘£16m injustice’
