Campaigners have welcomed a potential ban on US imports of booming fashion empire Boohoo and its suppliers after allegations over the use of slave labour. US Customs and Border Protection is studying two petitions from a British lawyer - one for a block on Boohoo clothes and another on garments from most of its manufacturers in Leicester. The agency has said there is enough evidence already to launch an investigation. Duncan Jepson who runs the charity Liberty Shared in Washington DC claims Boohoo is not doing enough to stop forced labour in the Leicester factories that make many of its clothes. Mr Jepson said: "The evidence of Boohoo and forced labour is quite compelling. I think it will be a wake-up call for British institutions about how they're handling modern slavery enforced labour, particularly in a community like Leicester East." How ‘sticky bombs’ could impact Kashmir insurgency
Indian security forces have seized dozens of "sticky bombs" during raids in India-administered Kashmir in recent months. "These bombs are a threat to security forces. We have issued orders to the security forces to remain alert," Rajesh Sharma, a senior police official in Samba district, told DW. Sticky bombs, or Magnet-attached Improvised Explosive Devices (MIEDs), can be attached to a vehicle and detonated remotely. They have been used by militants in Afghanistan over the past few months and although these bombs have not been used by Kashmiri insurgents, officials fear their presence could be a sign of impending violence in the disputed region. Muslim insurgents have been fighting Indian forces in the Indian-administered part of Kashmir — a region of 12 million people, about 70% of whom are Muslim — since 1989. Two of their three wars that India and Pakistan have fought since their independence in 1947, have been over Kashmir — which both claim in full, but rule in part. … [Read more...] about How ‘sticky bombs’ could impact Kashmir insurgency
Marco Rose’s Gladbach legacy under threat as season threatens to unravel
Since 2015, whether they like it or not and whether it's appropriate or not, every single Borussia Dortmund coach has, on some level, been compared to Jürgen Klopp. Neither Thomas Tuchel, Peter Bosz, Peter Stöger nor Lucien Favre were Klopp, and nor is Edin Terzic. Marco Rose isn't either, but Dortmund's new head coach from next season onward does have a lot more in common with Klopp than any of his predecessors. Unlike the meticulous Tuchel, the inexperienced Bosz, the underqualified Stöger, the cautious Favre or the interim Terzic, Rose represents a brand of Powerfussball that Borussia Dortmund, club and supporters alike, got hooked on under Klopp, an addiction they haven't been able to shake.' 'Adrenaline' and 'fire' "Rose, that means adrenaline, fire and a winning mentality," writes Kicker magazine, describing some of the traits that have characterized the 44-year-old's short time at his current club, Borussia Mönchengladbach. But those qualities were in short … [Read more...] about Marco Rose’s Gladbach legacy under threat as season threatens to unravel

iPad Mini will be replaced by GIANT ‘biggest ever’ 7.5-inch iPhone, shock Apple ‘leak’ claims
APPLE is reportedly working on a giant, foldable iPhone that will replace the iPad Mini in the California firm's gadget line-up. The high-tech mobile will boast a massive screen measuring 7.5 inches, dwarfing the next biggest iPhone ever made, according to Chinese media. It follows multiple reports that Apple is working on a foldable handset to take on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X . The device is rumoured to bend via a complex hinge that allows it to close like a clamshell. It's expected to cost upwards of £2,000. According to Chinese news site MyDrivers , Apple will use the phone's launch to axe one of its most popular tablets. The 7.9-inch iPad Mini will get the chop in favour of the foldable iPhone, which like the tablet will offer stylus support. It would be a sensible move for Apple, which has been guilty of cannibalising its own sales by offering similar products in the past. Last year's iPhone 12 Mini, for instance, has not … [Read more...] about iPad Mini will be replaced by GIANT ‘biggest ever’ 7.5-inch iPhone, shock Apple ‘leak’ claims
