Boris Johnson has left the door open to U-turning over the paltry 1% pay rise for NHS staff after fury from thousands of nurses. The Prime Minister stressed the process was still ongoing as he was grilled on a visit to an NHS vaccine centre in north London. It now means Mr Johnson and Gavin Williamson have both failed to rule out U-turning - and implementing a higher pay rise - after an independent review body reports back later this year. Asked if he could look nurses in the eye over the paltry sum, or whether a U-turn was possible, Mr Johnson told reporters: "I’m massively grateful to all NHS staff and indeed social care workers who’ve been heroic throughout the pandemic. “What we’ve done is tried to give them as much as we can at the present time. RAPPER Chucky Trill was gunned down on Friday morning in a horrifying drive-by killing. The musician, 33, real name Corey Detiege, passed away in a Georgia hospital after an unknown gunman pulled up beside his car and blasted him at around 3am, local media reports. The shooter fled the scene after the killing and motive behind the attack is not known, police said. Investigators are pleading for witnesses to come forward. Atlanta-based rapper Dirty Redd World claims he watched Trill die. He wrote on Instagram: "My lil brother died in my arms, that’s a feeling I will never shake." Trill, from Sugar Land, Texas, was visiting Atlanta for the NBA All-Star game today where he was scheduled to perform, his manager Bone told the Houston Chronicle . Boris Johnson is getting a £9million White House-style 'situation room' to command terror emergencies and military operations. The state-of-the-art bunker in the basement of the Cabinet Office will have huge display screens allowing the PM to track events in real time. It will be known as the Situation Centre, or SitCen, and should be up and running this summer - with claims it will reduce the time taken to brief ministers from 'weeks to minutes'. The plan is a centrepiece of the huge defence, security and foreign policy review due to be unveiled by Mr Johnson on March 16. The project has been highlighted after it emerged that £2.6million has been spent on an overhaul of No9 Downing Street to stage US-esque televised press briefings. Footage of a brutal crackdown on protests against a coup in Myanmar has unleashed outrage and calls for a stronger international response. Videos shared on social media showed security forces shooting a person at point-blank range and chasing down and savagely beating demonstrators. The footage came a day after 38 people were killed in the bloodiest day yet of the protests since last month's widely condemned takeover by army generals. Despite the shocking violence the day before, protesters returned to the streets on Thursday as a flood of videos shared online showed activists being brutally targeted. The United States called the images appalling, and said it was time to "end the military's stranglehold over democracy in Myanmar". Witnesses have said police have opened fire on protesters in Myanmar, amid reports at least one political organiser from the democratically elected government's party has died in custody. Several people were wounded in the historic temple city of Bagan, according to witness accounts and videos on social media, while demonstrations were held in at least half a dozen other Myanmar cities. Residents in the southeastern city of Dawei said soldiers and police moved into several districts overnight, firing shots. They arrested at least three people in Kyauktada Township, residents there said. One protest leader said to the crowd in Dawei: "They are killing people just like killing birds and chickens. What will we do if we don't revolt against them? We must revolt."
