"There are more than ten of these companies and funds who would come today and contribute all the money themselves — they do not even have to take out a loan — and build the whole thing in two years, plus a bridge between Hiiumaa and Saaremaa," Raivo Hein, leader of the project, told BNS.Hein first introduced the idea of building a bridge over Suur Strait in January. In the first stage, a bridge connecting Muhu and the mainland would be completed in three years, the cost of which would be up to €500 million. The bridge connecting Hiiumaa and Saaremaa would cost half as much, as the sea level between the two islands is lower."The solution there could come in the form of a dam and a medium-sized suspension bridge — there is no need to build a beam bridge on supports rammed into the ground from beginning to end," Hein explained. "Rather, it would resemble the dam between the islands of Muhu and Saaremaa, in the middle of which would be a bridge."Companies and funds … [Read more...] about 10 companies ready to privately finance bridges to Saaremaa, Hiiumaa

Marco Silva has reached his 100-day anniversary as Everton manager unbeaten. He has got disaffected fans back on board and he has overseen the implementation of a transfer policy with strategy and structure. So far, so solid. But how does his first 100 days as Everton manager compare to his predecessors'? We look back and assess how the last six Blues bosses fared in the first hundred days of their leadership. Sam Allardyce – Appointed: November 30 2017 (100th day on Saturday March 10) Appointed just 24 hours after David Unsworth's spectacular swansong against West Ham United, Allardyce hit the ground running. He shored up a defence which had been leaking like a colander, won a dead rubber in Europe with a team of reserves and ground out a hugely morale-boosting draw at Anfield. Allardyce's first five matches yielded scorelines of 2-0, 3-0, 1-1, 1-0 and 3-1 as the brooding spectre of relegation was quickly banished. But Allardyce was unable – or unwilling – to add a … [Read more...] about Which Everton manager boasted the best opening 100 days?
Derby County Under-23s’ unbeaten start to their Premier League 2 season came to an end at Pride Park tonight. The young Rams – on the back of an excellent 1-0 win at Chelsea last time out – were beaten 2-0 by high-flying Leicester City. Leicester dominated the opening 45 minutes, and got both their goals during that spell, leaving with a 2-0 victory and a place at the top of Division One. With the loan window having closed on Friday, Darren Wassall named just five players in his 11 that started the victory at Stamford Bridge. Kellan Gordon, Callum Guy, Timi Elsnik, Alex Babos and Chris Martin would be a big miss for any side at this level. Ikechi Anya was also absent from the match day squad, but George Thorne did get another 90 minutes under his belt. It was a dream start for the visitors as Uche Rabio bundled home after just three minutes. Layton Ndukwu, a standout performer in the opening weeks for the Foxes, fired an early warning shot when the ball broke to him … [Read more...] about Derby beaten by Leicester as PL2 unbeaten start comes to end
The transfer window has been shut for a weeks now but with EFL clubs now having a firmer idea of how they stand a few games into the season many are looking to strengthen in the loans market. The loan transfers window too will shut at 5pm on Friday with plenty of Championship clubs likely to conduct some business. Many will look to be poaching Premier League players not yet signed up with other clubs after not being selected for this season's campaign. And of course there will likely be some dealings going on within the league. Last season saw the EFL scrap the emergency loan system, introducing a deadline that means loans can only be made during the summer window - so up until August 31 - or in January. Loans can only be six-month or season-long deals, and any recall clauses can only be activated during a transfer window. The necessary paperwork must be sent to the authorities in time but some of the less important paperwork can be concluded the following day. Follow all the latest … [Read more...] about Championship deadline day transfer news LIVE as loan window shuts
