Kate Middleton has firmly cemented British designer label Alessandra Rich as a new fashion favorite by wearing her fourth design of the year to Wimbledon on Tuesday. Kate, a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club that hosts the Wimbledon Championship in London each year, attended the quarter finals men's singles matches accompanied by her husband Prince William . The pair watched as defending Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic played against Italian professional Jannik Sinner on the famous center court. For the occasion, Kate wore Alessandra Rich's pleated midi dress design in a blue with a white polka dot print. The dress featured an asymmetric closure with covered buttons, three-quarter length sleeve, and box pleated skirt. This is not the first time Kate has worn this dress, having appeared briefly at a Platinum Jubilee street party in Kensington wearing the design in June. This does mark the outfit's first formal public appearance with the royal's Wimbledon outfits … [Read more...] about Kate cements new favorite fashion brand with polka dot Wimbledon dress

Katy Perry under fire for abortion rights tweet after endorsing Rick Caruso
Katy Perry is being slammed for her abortion rights tweet after endorsing Rick Caruso for Los Angeles mayor. On Monday, July 4, the "Dark Horse" singer, 37, posted via Twitter: "'Baby you're a firework' is a 10 but women in the U.S. have fewer rights than an actual sparkler smh." Fans were quick to remind the singer that she advocated for the billionaire businessman, 63, who previously opposed abortion . "You supported an anti-abortion mayoral candidate in the last 30 days," one person tweeted, while sharing a screenshot Perry's June 5 tweet, which read: "RICK CARUSO FTW [for the win]!" A second user said: "You wouldn't know it from all the ads, but Rick Caruso is a Republican anti-abortion candidate. He has done a great job creating a misleading image of himself for voters. Please pay attention and look into candidates' backgrounds." "Hypocrite," another simply wrote. Newsweek reached out to Perry for comment. Caruso, now running as a Democrat, was once a … [Read more...] about Katy Perry under fire for abortion rights tweet after endorsing Rick Caruso

San Francisco couple fined $1,500 and banned from parking their car on own property
A San Francisco couple who parked their car for decades on a paved section of their property in front of their home has been banned from doing so in the future — and also fined more than $1,500. KGO-TV reported Monday that city officials sent a letter to Judy and Ed Craine telling them they can't park on the pavement on their property on a hilly street even though they have been doing so for 36 years. With the letter came a notice of a $1,542 fine and the threat of a $250-a-day fee for continued parking on their property. "To all of a sudden to be told you can't use something that we could use for years, it's startling," Ed Craine said. Dan Sider, the city's planning chief, said a decades-old city code to preserve neighborhood aesthetics prohibits residents from amassing cars in their yards. Officials looked into the issue at the Craines' property after receiving an anonymous complaint. "I recognize that the property owner is frustrated. I think I would feel the same way in … [Read more...] about San Francisco couple fined $1,500 and banned from parking their car on own property
Fourth of July shooting suspect Robert Crimo’s strange and violent online trail
The young man suspected of killing six people and injuring dozens at a Fourth of July parade uploaded a video showing the location of the attack before the mass shooting. Robert E Crimo III, 22, was arrested by police hours after shots were fired into the crowd during the celebrations in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park. Accounts that appear to belong to Crimo posted a number of violent and strange videos online, including crudely drawn animations of a violent shooting. Scene of the shooting The video showing Central Avenue, where the shooting took place, was filmed almost a year before the attack. It appears to have been filmed early in the morning and shows the street empty apart from American flags fluttering in the wind. Crimo edited it into a longer video that shows him smoking while looking at an American flag at half-mast over a memorial. In the video, he wears a clear backpack. These bags have been adopted by some American schools in a bid to combat … [Read more...] about Fourth of July shooting suspect Robert Crimo’s strange and violent online trail
Exclusive extract from Amber Gill’s debut novel, Until I Met You
Until I Met You is Amber Gill’s first novel for romantic publishers Mills & Boon . It follows Samantha on what was supposed to be the holiday of a lifetime with the imminent launch of her travel blog, her best friend’s wedding and – hopefully – her own marriage proposal. Until she finds herself on her way to Tobago – single. Read on for an exclusive peek at the opening of the novel. ‘Ladies and gentlemen, this is the pre-boarding announcement for flight BA209 to Miami, Florida. At this time we ask passenger Samantha Roberts to proceed to the British Airways check-in desk. Passenger Samantha Roberts, please proceed to the check-in desk.’ The insistent monotone roused Samantha from her meditation. She hopped to her feet, grabbed the handle of her carry-on suitcase and made a beeline for the desk. Tall, curvy, with cinnamon brown skin and a head of wild corkscrew curls, she stood out in most crowds. But the Heathrow departure gate was packed. She had to elbow … [Read more...] about Exclusive extract from Amber Gill’s debut novel, Until I Met You
F1 star emerged from Michael Schumacher’s shadow to almost stop Lewis Hamilton dominance
For more than 30 seconds, he believed that he had just summited the Formula 1 world – only to have that notion cruelly ripped away. Felipe Massa went from dreamland to the depths of despair in such a short space of time. But then came the moment which secured his place in the hearts of F1 fans forever, as he accepted the most difficult of defeats with humility and dignity in front of the people who adored him most in the world. It was in 2008 that Massa had the best shot he would ever have to become the champion. In his sixth full season in the sport and third with Ferrari , he was finally ready to make a real bid for the prize he had been dreaming about ever since he first sat in a go-kart. The stage couldn't have been any more ideal, even if the job was a tough one. In front of his own people, at the Brazilian Grand Prix finale, the Interlagos circuit the he had grown up living just a couple of hours away from was the staging ground for his assault. His job was … [Read more...] about F1 star emerged from Michael Schumacher’s shadow to almost stop Lewis Hamilton dominance
Britain is fed up, bitter, and practically broke – and it’s all going to get worse
Welcome to gerontocratic Britain. Sir Paul McCartney, 80, was the star attraction at the once youthful but now desperately middle-aged Glastonbury. Sir Elton John, 75, filled Hyde Park last weekend . The state pension is shooting up, financed by a tax raid on the young. The latest Census revealed that we are plunging into a catastrophic baby bust . The young and not so young are demoralised, downcast and have gone on baby strike, and not merely because they paid the price for protecting their elders from Covid . As the number of 90-year olds reaches an all-time high, there are 264,650 fewer under-fours than a decade ago, a 7.6 per cent slump. How many schools will need to shut, replaced by care homes and retirement villages? The signs are unmissable: Britain is a society that is losing trust in the future, and is increasingly terrified of its present. The greying of everything, the dissipation of a defined youth culture, means that we are now peering into a precipice of … [Read more...] about Britain is fed up, bitter, and practically broke – and it’s all going to get worse
Big Tech’s hedonistic get-rich party is over, and Gen Z knows it
The most powerful industries shift with each generation. Whether the holy grail is the adrenaline-fuelled rush of a Wall Street trading floor or the chance to code with tech titans in hoodies, each sector will have its golden age. Many of the most ambitious people in the world will initially flock to the bright lights of the career of the moment, hoping to be a part of the moneymaking VIPs. Many will then realise that the party wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, leaving the next generation to pine for something else. As Don Draper, the protagonist of TV epic Mad Men, once said: “We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.” In the Sixties, working in an aircraft cabin was considered one of the most glamorous and sophisticated jobs in the world - former flight attendants said it was like being a supermodel or an actress. Few would feel that way today. Even degrees that were once considered prestigious can eventually … [Read more...] about Big Tech’s hedonistic get-rich party is over, and Gen Z knows it
