Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) now wants to sell her Tesla, following a Twitter dustup with tech billionaire Elon Musk last month. The socialist darling bought a Model 3 Tesla back in 2020, which now sell for about $46,990. But after Musk teased her online, she’s singing a different tune. “At the time, it was the only EV that could get me from New York to Washington on like one, or one-and-a-half charges,” AOC told Bloomberg News this week. “I would love to switch.” “He’s a billionaire. I could care less what he thinks,” Ocasio-Cortez said of Musk’s apparent support of the GOP. “Ocasio-Cortez bought her Model 3 to travel between Washington and her Bronx-Queens district after Covid-19 hit in 2020,” the Bloomberg report noted. “Now, the New York representative wants to ditch it for an electric vehicle made by unionized workers.” Last month, Musk teased the far-Left representative after she complained online about billionaires for the umpteenth time. “Stop hitting on … [Read more...] about AOC Wants To Sell Her Tesla After Elon Musk Teased Her Online | The Daily Wire

BBC slashes jobs and set to move CBBC and BBC Four online
BBC Four and CBBC will no longer be aired as traditional broadcast channels after the next few years as part of the corporation's plans to become "digital first". They will end as linear TV channels and are expected to move online to the iPlayer, while Radio 4 Extra could become available on the BBC Sounds service only. Announcing what it described as "a blueprint to build a digital-first public service media organisation", the BBC said 1,000 jobs will be cut over the next few years. The BBC World News and BBC News channels will merge to create a single 24-hour TV news channel serving both UK and international audiences as part of the corporation's wider plans. Regional TV news programmes in Oxford and Cambridge are also among the services being scrapped - merging with the BBC's Southampton and Norwich operations. Advertisement Director-general Tim Davie told staff: "This is our moment to build a digital-first BBC. Something genuinely new, a Reithian … [Read more...] about BBC slashes jobs and set to move CBBC and BBC Four online
Inflation crisis will give tech titans even more power
Technology companies are living through a market rout not seen since the embers of the dotcom crash. The Nasdaq has fallen for seven consecutive weeks, the longest losing streak since 2002, and is down 30pc this year. Investment bankers who were busier than ever this time last year during the Spac frenzy are twiddling their thumbs. Bitcoin, once marketed as a hedge against inflation, has crashed too. Elon Musk’s $44bn (£35bn) agreement to buy Twitter a month ago is looking more ill-timed by the day . The superstars at the World Economic Forum in Davos this week are not youthful internet entrepreneurs but nonagenarian diplomats and financiers. A combination of a global inflationary crisis and the subsequent rise in interest rates has been a sharp rejoinder to any tech worker under the age of 35, who has only ever experienced their employers becoming richer and more powerful. Such an environment is starting to take its toll on most. This week, Snapchat’s parent company warned … [Read more...] about Inflation crisis will give tech titans even more power
Adele producer: Poor children have ‘no hope’ of breaking into music industry
Britain risks losing the next potential Paul McCartney or David Bowie because it is too expensive for many children to get a foothold in the music industry, a superstar record producer has warned. Paul Epworth , who has worked with stars such as Adele , Rihanna and McCartney, said youngsters without either financial backing or existing connections in the industry are being excluded from a career in music. He has now thrown his weight behind a new two-year diploma in Creative Entrepreneurship for students aged 19 years and over launched this week by the Ivors Academy. The diploma will offer means-tested bursaries for students from modest and underprivileged backgrounds and few formal qualifications to study all aspects of the industry, including music, technology and culture; live music; personal development; entrepreneurship and branding. Mr Epworth, who won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for ‘Skyfall’, along with seven Grammys, and will be a tutor and mentor … [Read more...] about Adele producer: Poor children have ‘no hope’ of breaking into music industry
Letters: An automated voice is no comfort to a widow faced with soaring gas bills
SIR – My wife and I have a friend who is a widow in her 80s. Recently we found her in a distressed state. She said that her gas bill, normally about £30 per month, had gone up to £170. She does not bank online and her bank has recently closed its branch in the nearest town four miles away. She tried phoning her supplier, British Gas, only to be told by an automated voice on each attempt that the wait time was “more than an hour”. So distressed has she become that she has had to visit her GP, who suggested that she was suffering from anxiety brought on by the situation with her gas supply. She is now taking anti-anxiety medicine and has managed to get her bill altered. I can only say that this is a disgraceful way to deal with any customer. David J Hartshorn SIR – Gillian Courage (Letters, May 5) writes of her energy supplier’s grab for more money. The same applies to our long-term supplier, Ovo Energy. On Wednesday we received two emails, one complaining about a lack of … [Read more...] about Letters: An automated voice is no comfort to a widow faced with soaring gas bills
Man losing $125k in epic work fail horrifies the internet: “Suspended”
Most of us have made a mistake at work. But one Reddit user shared a really, really big work mistake this week on the popular subreddit r/tifu. Standing for "Today I f***ed up," the forum is a space for people to share stories of their big and small mistakes. On Wednesday, the Redditor posted their story which has since received more than 17,000 upvotes. He explained: "I work in finance and am the only person to do my job. It's been a long week and I got an email from my Chief Executive Officer (CEO) asking for his payment to be made into his new bank details. He asked if, instead of waiting, he could have the payment today. "The business is in debt to the owners for a substantial sum, so when the request for his money came early I checked with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who is out of the country, and he said go for it." He noted that it was not unusual to receive the email and that the CFO had left his PIN number and device so that the Reddit user could sign off … [Read more...] about Man losing $125k in epic work fail horrifies the internet: “Suspended”
