The University of Chester has been ordered to dismantle a £120m facility over fears for student safety because it was built too close to an oil refinery. The Thornton Science Park site has been home to the university's science and engineering department since 2014. But the local council's planning committee has rejected a retrospective application on advice from health and safety experts. They feared students would be put at risk of there was a toxic gas release or explosion at the Stanlow refinery next door, the Chester Chronicle reports. Cheshire West and Chester Council's planning committee voted seven to four to prevent the university facility changing its designation from an industrial to an educational site. A man has been treated at the scene of a two-vehicle collision near the Stanlow oil refinery in Ellesmere Port . The accident was reported about 5.30pm on Thursday (May 31) on the A5117 close to Thornton le Moors near the refinery. Travel webite Inrix reports the road as partially blocked in both directions following a reported head-on collision, with very slow traffic between Thornton Green Lane and M53 J10 (Little Stanney). Kyiv's district administrative court upheld government resolution No. 632-r dated September 13, 2017 on the transfer of assets of public joint-stock company Odesa Oil Refinery and Energy and Gas of Ukraine LLC (a cogeneration unit at the refinery) to the management of the State Property Fund (SPF) of Ukraine, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has reported. "Taking into account the arguments of the PGO on the lawfulness of the government resolution, Kyiv's district administrative court on May 16, 2018 did not uphold the claims [of Odesa Oil Refinery and Energy and Gas of Ukraine LLC]," the press service said. KazMunaiGaz is developing a feasibility study for the refinery, which should be completed by the end of the second quarter of this year, according to the Kazakh Energy Ministry. After the scale of the project is determined, a decision on the location of the plant will be made. After the development and presentation of the feasibility study, the question of where from the raw materials will be supplied to the new refinery will be resolved. Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev earlier spoke in favor of the need to build a fourth refinery in the republic. A group of oil refinery workers are to cycle 300 miles to Paris in order to raise money for a charity that saved the life of their friend and colleague. The workers from Total Lindsey Oil Refinery, are cycling from North Killingholme to Hull, before taking a Ferry to Bruges and heading off towards the French capital as they seek to raise money for the Lincolnshire and Nottingham Air Ambulance, who "saved the life" of one of their friends and colleagues. Former refinery worked Steve Cook was involved in a life changing collision while he was out riding his bike in 2015, suffering a broken back plus a host of other injuries including third degree burns. He says that he "would have died" if it wasn't for the work of the team in the Air Ambulance, who quickly brought him to hospital after his crash.
