Barack Obama has slammed Donald Trumps 'serious mistake' of quitting Iran Nuclear Deal which 'could embolden an already dangerous regime'. In a rare public rebuke of his predecessor Mr Obama said the decision was "miguided". In a lengthy statement on his facebook page the 44th president hit out at Trump's rejection of the international agreement which he announced on Tuesday evening. "I believe that the decision to put the JCPOA at risk without any Iranian violation of the deal is a serious mistake," Obama said in a statement." And he launched a wider criticism of the current Whitehouse's approach to international diplomacy. "In a democracy, there will always be changes in policies and priorities from one Administration to the next," Obama's statement continued. "But the consistent flouting of agreements that our country is a party to risks eroding America's credibility, and puts us at odds with the world's major powers." Donald Trump has outlived the “axis of adults” that was supposed to guide and shape his foreign policy. He’s run through two national security advisers, innumerable lawyers and lower-level aides, an attorney general, an array of Cabinet secretaries and, any day now, the second of two White House chiefs of staff. He’s dumped the ideologist who helped elect him and never really clarified what his “America First” campaign slogan was all about anyways. But since we launched The Global Politico days after his inauguration, Trump has more than followed through on his election pledge to shake up the Washington establishment of both parties when it comes to America’s position in the world. Each week, we’ve watched as he’s reoriented — or tried to — U.S. policy toward everywhere from Iran to North Korea, Russia to our North American neighbors. All around the world, from Norway in the north to Australia in the south, political leaders have condemned the Salisbury nerve agent attack with a remarkably unified voice. Yet on a certain Twitter account operated in Washington, the silence is eloquent. While Russian diplomats across the globe, including the 60 in the States, begin packing for the journey home, the American president is cast against type as the most famously mute character in English literature. “Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?” Inspector Gregory of the Yard asks Sherlock Holmes in The Adventure of Silver Blaze. “To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.” “The dog did nothing in the night-time.” “That was the curious incident.” The incident of the Trump who doesn’t tweet in the night is also undeniably curious. After 14 months of keeping us so intimately informed about his thinking on the issues of the … [Read more...] about Donald Trump has stayed silent on the Russian threat because he fears Putin’s juicy ‘kompromat’
