The Federal Emergency Management Agency is releasing the largest update to its mobile application in a decade, the agency announced today. FEMA is releasing the app at the beginning of a hurricane season that experts predict will be above average and a wildfire season that's already devastating, for example, In New Mexico . The update makes the app more like social media and includes options for users to personalize the information they get when disasters hit. It also makes makes the app more user friendly to people with disabilities. “We are better helping communities plan, protect and recover from disasters through clear, effective and relatable communication," FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell said in a statement. The previous version of the app had a list of categories for notifications and looked like a directory or listserv. FUGITIVE Kaitlin Armstrong has been arrested with trimmed and dyed hair after being on the run for over a month for the alleged killing of Anna Moriah Wilson. Armstrong , 34, was caught at a hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in Provincia de Puntarenas, Costa Rica on Wednesday. The fugitive, according to authorities, boarded a plan e at 5.09pm on May 18 from Newark International Airport in New Jersey and touched down in San Jose, Costa Rica, at 8.27pm. “The Marshals Service elevated the Kaitlin Armstrong investigation to major case status early in this investigation, which likely played a key role in her capture after a 43-day run,” said US Marshal for the Western District of Texas Susan Pamerleau. She is accused of killing her love rival and pro athlete Moriah Wilson , 25, who was found dead on May 11 in Austin, Texas . Hundreds of people were caught up in traffic chaos on motorways today, due to a ‘slow-moving’ protest over rising fuel prices. Footage had even been shared of people playing football on empty carriageways after traffic ground to a standstill. Demonstrators ‘met in the middle’ at the Severn Bridge this morning which caused the worst of today’s delays. Marine scientist Sarah Reid, who also works as a professional skipper and diver for ocean ecology, started to brainstorm other routes to work when she heard the news of the protest. Pound faces ‘existential crisis’, Bank of America warns
T he pound is facing an “existential crisis” and is likely to weaken further during this year, one of Wall Street’s top banks has warned. Bank of America says sterling “finds itself in an increasingly invidious position” for reasons including “increasingly challenging” Bank of England communication. Kamal Sharma, a London-based foreign exchange strategist for the lender, said the outlook for the pound was “grim”. The warnings came as the price of oil breached $120 (£95) a barrel on Monday, hitting a two-month high amid tightness in the market and concern over supplies. Oil prices have risen amid tight supply driven by the fallout from Russia’s war in Ukraine, as well as increased demand as more economies return from Covid-related restrictions. China announced easing of its restrictions, while the European Union worked on a plan to ban imports of Russian crude.
