The Queen has made her second appearance of the day as she triggered the lighting of the principal Jubilee beacon at Windsor Castle. At the same time thousands of beacons were lit in villages, towns and cities across the UK to honour the Queen's 70-year reign. Her Majesty started the ceremony from the quadrangle at Windsor Castle, with the Duke of Cambridge representing his grandmother, alongside other members of the Royal Family, at Buckingham Palace, the site of the "Tree of Trees" principal beacon. Although traditionally the principal beacon would be set on fire, this year it took the form of a near-70ft light installation. At Windsor Castle, the Queen, wearing a green jacket, gloves and glasses, pressed the quadrangle to start the lighting of the Jubilee. DANIEL RICCIARDO has been passed fit to race in this weekend's Bahrain GP after recovering from Covid. The Australian was forced to miss the whole of pre-season testing last week in the Gulf as a result of the virus. It meant Lando Norris was forced to step in for the three days while Ricciardo was in isolation. However, after returning two negative tests, he is free to race this weekend and says he is feeling no lasting effects. McLaren confirmed: "McLaren F1 Team confirms that after testing positive for Covid-19 last week, Daniel has now returned a number of negative tests and will therefore return to the paddock on Thursday ready to compete in this weekend's Bahrain GP . Reverse the Ban (RTB), made up of 24 York groups, said the city council's "discriminatory decisions" hit disabled and older people the hardest. The council took away the exemption in November which allowed blue badge holders to park in the footstreets. It has promised to improve access to the city centre, including a programme of dropped kerbs and better pavement. Campaigners said not enough was being done, and 31 more disabled spaces would soon be lost during the closure of Castle Car Park to make way for a regeneration project.
