Whaley Bridge is set to see ‘one of the biggest processions in the High Peak this year’ - with temperatures expected to soar on Saturday. As well the traditional procession spectacle it will feature the “Whaley Waltz” annual fell run plus fairground rides, ice cream, food, refreshments, face painting and a variety of stalls.Carnival-goers will be entertained with musical performances by Whaley Bridge Band and the Northenden Pipe Band throughout the afternoon. There will also be a special display by the Whaley Bridge Branch of the Royal British Legion of their poppy-decorated JCB Digger.Saturday’s procession will gather at the Canal Basin near Bingswood Industrial Estate - lining up from 12.30pm in time to start from Canal Street at 1pm. A total of eight seats in the European Parliament are up for grabs in the North West Area which covers Greater Manchester as well as Cheshire, Cumbria Lancashire and Merseyside. A brazen drug lord behind a huge cocaine and heroin supply racket drove around in a Mercedes with a personalised registration plate that read 'BO55'. Jordan Clements, 27, from Failsworth, Oldham, was making so much money at the top of a drugs gang that he wore a £34,000 Rolex and bought a £313,000 holiday villa in Dubai. He used a 'safe house' in Oak Road, Whitefield, Bury, to distribute wholesale quantities of drugs, with an Uzi sub-machine gun stashed under the stairs. His second in command Anthony Frost, 27, ran the city centre cocaine supply operation out of his £18,000-a-month luxury apartment in the Northern Quarter. Now their lives of luxury have been brought to an end. The pair have been handed long jail alongside three other men - Nathan Lee, 31, Mohammed Sarwar, 27, and Marcel Madden, 25.
