Man’s body cut from “bulging” stomach of 13ft crocodile days after attack
A crocodile that ate an Indonesian man whole has been cut open, revealing the victim's body days later. Construction worker Yeniman Bernard from Teluk Bintuni, in the West Papua province of Indonesia , was sitting on a boat after swimming in the bay when he was dragged underwater and eaten alive by the 13-foot crocodile on June 28. Angry locals hunted the crocodile over the next few days, eventually finding one creature with a particularly bloated stomach. Lukas Resihol Limbong, head of the Bintuni Bay Police , said: "After being caught, the crocodile was taken ashore. We suspected the crocodile ate the man because its stomach was bulging." The volunteer search party captured the crocodile, slit open its stomach, and discovered a decomposing human corpse. According to officers on the scene, the body had mostly been digested. Limbong added: "We confirm that the victim inside the crocodile is the person we are looking for. The victim's body was not intact." A skull … [Read more...] about Man’s body cut from “bulging” stomach of 13ft crocodile days after attack

A group of great white sharks has gathered just miles from the New York coast over July 4, Ocearch's shark tracker shows. A huge great white called Scot, measuring more than 12 feet long and weighing 1,644 pounds, was tracked roughly 100 miles south of the city on July 3. Scot was first tagged by the ocean research organization in September 2021, when he was found off Ironbound Island in Nova Scotia. Like most North Atlantic sharks, Scot spent the winter in the south, off the Gulf Of Mexico. Scot is not the only great white shark to be tracked in the waters off New York recently. Freya, who measures 11.26 feet and weighs 883 pounds, was tracked swimming close to Hamilton in Madison County, New York, on July 4. In June, Freya was spotted in the shallows three miles from North Carolina's Pea Island . Since then, she has continued to travel north on her annual migration. The population of great whites that includes Scot and Freya spends a large portion of the summer and … [Read more...] about Great white sharks gather just miles from New York coast over July 4
Psychiatry and the War
by BRIG. GEN. WILLIAM C. MENNINGER, USA MILITARY psychiatry differs from civilian psychiatry in that the Army must be totally responsible for a man — not only for his food and clothing, but especially for his ability to participate in his particular mission. Consequently, when a man did not fulfill his function, the Army had to find the cause and, if possible, remedy it. In many instances the cause lay in his personality and in his emotional difficulties. Since there is a human tendency to retreat into illness under stress, it was not surprising to find that many men became ill when they were unable to meet the demands of the new life. Military psychiatry differs also in quality from civilian psychiatry. In the Army much more effort and time are invested in a preventive psychiatryan attempt to keep men healthy and to seek out causes for poor morale. Until comparatively recently, the majority of civilian psychiatric patients had to be brought to the psychiatrist by relatives, … [Read more...] about Psychiatry and the War
