The Queen’s Gambit is being adapted into a musical… as Netflix hit continues to dominate during awards season

The Queen's Gambit was one of 2020's most talked about series, earning huge streaming numbers and rave reviews. And now the Netflix chess drama is heading to Broadway, courtesy of production company Level Forward. Level Forward has obtained the rights to the Walter Tevis novel the awards-winning show was based on and is now developing a musical adaptation of the Anya Taylor-Joy-fronted limited series. Music to my ears: The Queen's Gambit is being adapted into a musical by Level Forward production company, which just acquired the rights to the book the series is based off of The company has a history on hits on stage, previously working on Alanis Morrissette's musical Jagged Little Pill and Jeremy O'Harris' critically-acclaimed Slave Play. The Queen's Gambit can surely bank on a built-in audience, boasting the title of Netflix's most watched limited series in November 2020. Italian police arrest IS suspect over 2015 Paris attacks

Police on Monday said they had arrested an Algerian man in the southern town of Bari on suspicion of belonging to the militant "Islamic State" (IS) group and involvement in the Paris attacks. The coordinated incidents on November 13, 2015, which killed 130 and left hundreds more wounded, were France's deadliest attacks since World War II. The perpetrators targeted people with guns and explosives at the Bataclan concert hall , as well as restaurants in eastern Paris and the vicinity of the Stade de France sports stadium. Who is the arrested suspect? A statement said that the man, named by the La Repubblica daily newspaper as Athmane T., was believed to have provided counterfeit documents to the gunmen and suicide bombers. Investigators said the 36-year-old was part of an IS cell that had been operating in France and Belgium with his two brothers, according to Italian media. Netflix’s The Crown sweeps board at Critics’ Choice Awards amid Meghan and Harry bombshell

A British royal drama seeped in controversy caused shockwaves over in LA on Sunday night... as The Crown won four categories at the Critics’ Choice Awards. The Netflix royals (no, not those two) reigned victorious in two TV acting categories, with Emma Corrin, 25, and Josh O’Connor, 30 – who play Princess Diana and Prince Charles – named Best Actress and Best Actor in a Drama Series. Emma pipped Olivia Colman, who plays The Queen in the series, for the win. Gillian Anderson, 52, was named Best Supporting Actress for her role as Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and The Crown was named Best Drama. There was more success for British stars, with John Boyega, 28, named Best Actor in a Miniseries for his role in Red, White And Blue, part of Steve McQueen’s Small Axe series, in which he played a founding member of the Black Police Association. Afghan women risk losing their rights in a new political setup

For nearly two decades, women in Afghanistan have played an active part in social and political life by holding political office, working in professions and running businesses. Advances for women have extended from the country's elite in the cities all the way to the less-privileged communities in the provinces. However, Afghan women now fear their place in society will again be marginalized as the Islamist militant Taliban consolidate their power under a peace deal with the US. There are big questions about how the social landscape in Afghanistan will shift under Taliban influence, and what conditions will be forced upon women. Fawzia Koofi, a member of the Afghan government delegation negotiating with the Taliban, said it is difficult to determine how the Taliban have changed nearly 20 years after being removed from political power.
