The staff from Ward 9 decided that instead of exchanging secret Santa gifts this year, they would use the money to help out vulnerable people in Dundee. They donated £200 to the Ambassador Bar and Grill to buy meals and gifts. The shop opened in 2014 on the main concourse at Ninewells, offering a range of items, and was named Best Gift Shop 2018 at The Dundee Business Awards. Last month, the shop expanded to include The Little Gift Shop for children and babies. Fundraising support officer Gillian Moran said: “The funds generated by the gifts shops make a big difference to patients and families across Tayside. “We’re always looking for new volunteers to join our friendly team. “If you fancy spending a few hours a week helping in the shops, please get in touch – we’d be delighted to hear from you.” Jean Mitchell, 65, previously told the Tele: “We get regulars in the store who are visiting relatives in hospital. Today, the Evening Telegraph is standing up for those people amid plans for a new hike in parking fees at Ninewells Hospital, by calling on the company that runs the car parks to think again. We are urging Indigo Infra Dundee Ltd to Freeze the Fees and give those who use the hospital some respite in the face of rising costs and ever-tightening budgets. Indigo Infra Dundee Ltd is locked in a 30-year contract with the health board to run all the Ninewells car parks. It’s one of only a few hospitals in the country where people have to pay to park. Man airlifted to Ninewells Hospital after local bridge fall

Emergency services rushed to the Stenton Road area of Glenrothes following the incident around 4pm yesterday. The casualty, in his 40s, is believed to have fallen from a footbridge at Boblingen Way, near to where the path crosses Stenton. Police closed off the pedestrianised section of the road while the incident was ongoing. An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene and is understood to have landed on the grassy area off Pitteuchar Drive. Bikers raise cash for Ninewells trauma ward where members were treated after crashing

Bikers attending a Perth Bike Night raised £1,231.70 for the orthopaedic trauma ward 17 at the Dundee hospital. The group of motorcyclists and motorcycle enthusiasts gather at Noah’s Ark in Perth on the last Saturday of every month between April and September and have raised more than £15,000 for good causes since the bike night started in 2014. The group wanted to donate money to ward 17 as several members had been treated there following road accidents, including Eck Maddin, who rode in on his Harley Davidson to join bike night participants Karen Gray, Fiona Moore and Jamie Gunn to hand over the donation to hospital staff.
