It seems that even a new judging panel has not been able to spark the fire for The X Factor as viewing figures showed the lowest numbers since the show began. An average of 5.7million viewers tuned in to watch the first episode of the 15th series, which featured a new judging panel of Simon Cowell with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, Robbie Williams and Ayda Field. This is a drop from last year's equivalent episode, which clocked six million viewers according to overnight ratings. The show opener peaked with 6.3 million viewers, but was still the most-watched programme on ITV on Saturday with a 34% audience share. The figures make it the lowest launch since the talent competition debuted 14 years ago, when 4.9 million watched the opening night. Overnight ratings include those watching the programme live on ITV and on catch-up channel ITV+1, and further consolidated data will be revealed after seven days. ITV boss Kevin Lygo recently defended the programme against the drop in … [Read more...] about X Factor viewing figures drop to lowest numbers since show’s launch in 2004

The talking points are becoming more pointed for late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, and that's earning him a lot of scrutiny. Tracy Smith has our Sunday Profile (This story was originally broadcast on October 15, 2017): For Jimmy Kimmel, Hollywood is home: "You know, it's dirty and kinda gross, but I do love it here. "The weather is beautiful. There's great restaurants here. There's a lot to do. I mean, what's not to like? ... I say, as somebody goes through the garbage can." He's been taping his nightly show here for the past 13 years, but lately, he's become more than just another face in the late-night crowd. Kimmel, who turns 51 in November, was always a lovable frat boy at 11:30. But like other late-night hosts, he put comedy on hold after last fall's Las Vegas massacre. "Maybe I'm nuts, but I would like to think we could put politics aside and agree that no American citizen needs an M-16, or 10 of them," he said last October 2. "And maybe that way, we don't do this … [Read more...] about Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel speaks his mind

No one could believe it when Eyal Booker and Zara McDermott were voted off the island the other night. So it's no surprise that Love Island pulled in a record-breaking 3.4m viewers during the sensational episode. The ratings means it's ITV2's most watched programme ever. Overall, the hour-long show scored three million viewers, and an audience share of 15.8 per cent, an ITV spokesman said.
