Tony Hendra has died at the age of 79. The satirist and star of This Is Spinal Tap had been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), in 2019. Wife Carla Hendra confirmed to The New York Times her husband's cause of death. He was best known for starring as the inept manager in cult classic, This Is Spinal Tap. Tony was British but have lived for many years in the United States. He had begun writing and performing while still a student at Cambridge University, working in the same circles as the future stars of Monty Python, such as John Cleese and Graham Chapman. In 1964, Tony and performing partner Nick Ullett took their act to the US, where he forged a career in acting, stand-up comedy, writing and publishing. GARETH Gates and Faye Brookes have split up after dating on and off for seven years and called off their engagement. The Pop Idol star, 35, and the former Corrie star, 31 - who were planning their wedding – have decided they are better off as friends. A source told The Sun Online: "Gareth and Faye have been through a lot together but they just can't make it work. "She's in a different place right now after leaving Corrie and is working hard to land some new roles. Chipotle shuts 43 restaurants after eight diners hospitalised with deadly food bug
A Mexican restaurant chain has been forced to temporarily close 43 of its restaurants after an outbreak of E. coli . Health authorities are investigating after eight people were rushed to hospital after eating at the Chipolte restaurant chain in Washington an Oregon. So far there have been 19 cases of illness related to the bacteria in Washington and three cases in Oregon. As yet no one has died. "There have been links made to six restaurants in the Seattle and Portland areas," Chris Arnold, the communications director for Chipotle, told the New York Times. How George Floyd’s death reignited a worldwide movement
For eight minutes and 46 seconds, police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on the neck of George Floyd, a 46-year old Black man, on a street in Minneapolis on May 25 last year. Another officer, Alexander Kueng, had his knees on Floyd's upper legs whille their colleague J. Thomas Lane gripped Floyd's handcuffed arms. "Please, please, please, I can't breathe," Floyd gasped, pleading about 20 times. His final words reminded many of those of Eric Garner, who died during a police chokehold in 2014 . When Floyd fell unconscious, the officers didn't move. A FRUGAL woman who “hates spending money” has revealed her extreme money-saving ways, including never buying toilet paper. Kate Hashimoto, lives in New York, and has found a way of avoiding paying for almost everything in her life. Speaking on TLC’s Extreme Cheapskates, she says: “I have lived in New York for three years, although it’s the most expensive city to live in I have found ways to get around it. “If I have to spend money, I try and avoid it, I will try and pay as little as possible.” With a budget of just $200 a month in living expenses, Kate finds ways to reuse whatever she can to make her money go further. “If I am drying my hands in a public bathroom, I am drying off hands that I washed clean so I keep them and reuse them,” she explains.
