Alan Lithgow has committed his future to Livingston by signing a new two-year deal with the Championship club. The 30-year-old has been in impressive form this season, his second at the club, and boss David Hopkin says he was delighted to get the centre-back signed up - and hinted that more contract extensions are on the way. In the capital Helsinki, police had to respond to 444 callouts compared to 353 a year earlier.Inspector Tuomo Tuohimaa claimed the rise in callouts was likely to be because the warmer weather led to people staying outside for longer than normal. He explained that people were out in large numbers because Finland enjoyed one of its warmest New Years for around 50 years. The most common callouts were in relation to drunkenness, assaults, domestic incidents and vandalism. One of the most serious incidents was a stabbing outside a Helsinki city centre bar, which police are investigating as attempted murder. The city’s police received 63 calls relating to assault, 57 to domestic incidents and 40 about fires caused by fireworks. Across the country there were a few fires started after fireworks hit buildings or shot through windows, including one in which two people died in Kempele. Catalans Dragons have tabled a four-year deal for Wigan star Sam Tomkins, according to the Sun. The Perpignan outfit are desperate to land the Warriors full-back – and have offered a contract which would take the England international until the end of 2022 and until he’s 33-years-old. Wigan have an option at their disposal for 2019 but speculation has intensified in the coming days that Tomkins is bound for the South of France next season. The report also states that Shaun Wane could lose prop Ryan Sutton to Parramatta Eels in mid-season, with John Bateman also keen on a move down under if an NRL side comes in for him.
