DOMESTIC abusers who choke partners will face up to five years in jail under tough new laws. Ministers will make “non-fatal strangulation” an offence. This form of abuse leaves no marks on victims — making it hard to prosecute under assault laws. The Domestic Abuse Bill also toughens up “revenge porn” laws to include threats to send people’s intimate images to others. And controlling abusers will now be prosecuted even if they do not live with their victims. The proposals come as domestic abuse cases have risen sharply during the pandemic . Justice Secretary Robert Buckland said: “From outlawing non-fatal strangulation to giving better protections in court we are delivering the support victims need to feel safer.” Chancellor Rishi Sunak will unveil £19million for more Respite Rooms for vulnerable women and programmes to tackle domestic abuse in the Budget. HAVE you ever wondered what happens to the clothes you return after making an online order? Well, ASOS as revealed exactly what happens to unwanted items - even if they're faulty. The retailer revealed that all returned items are either fixed, cleaned, repackaged, repurposed or recycled - and absolutely nothing gets thrown away. In a video shared with its 11.2 million followers, Senior Creative Jess Cheng, who works for the brand, explained the process step-by-step. “Where do our returns go? Spoiler alert – it’s not landfill,” she said. If someone denied me the chance to ingest a KFC bargain bucket with chicken supplied from Thailand, via aeroplane, shipped to a warehouse without a cold storage licence and left in a queue of overheating lorries for hours I'd thank them profusely. I'd feel outrage for the conditions the chicken had endured both alive and dead, outrage at the corporate stupidity that couldn't switch delivery firms more efficiently, and outrage at myself for being so keen on the idea because the only times I've ever attended a KFC 'restaurant' were 24 hours after being dumped, filled with self-loathing and wearing tear-stained pyjamas. Halfway through the bucket you start to realise that you don't hate life that much. Two-thirds into it you start to feel you can do better than this.
