India targets Twitter, WhatsApp with new regulatory rules

· January 26, 2021 ·

India's government on Thursday announced new rules to regulate social media platforms, online streaming services and digital news. The clampdown follows a refusal by Twitter to take down accounts and tweets following a violent confrontation between the police and protesting farmers on January 26. The company had temporarily complied to the government's request and later reversed its decision. Social media has become a key battleground in the Indian government's standoff with farmers who have been protesting in New Delhi since November. What are the new rules? India's Information Technology Ministry said that under the new rules, the online platforms will have to remove content within 24 hours if there is a complaint against it and redress the complaint within 15 days. Companies will also have to disclose the source of the "mischievous tweet or message" to the government or court, if mandated, and assist the government with cyber-security related incidents within 72 … [Read more...] about India targets Twitter, WhatsApp with new regulatory rules

A court in Berlin sentenced a man who tried to blackmail Britain's National Health Service (NHS) to three years in jail on Friday. Judges said Emil A. demanded 10 million pounds (€11.5 million, $13.9 million) in Bitcoin or else he would blow up hospitals. The court found the Italian, who lives in Berlin, guilty of attempted extortion. Prince Harry ‘revels in new freedom – but freezes when it comes to the Queen and William’

· February 26, 2021 ·

Prince Harry's appearance on The Late Late Show unveiled a rarely seen side of the former royal as he rapped, danced and spoke candidly on a variety uncomfortable topics during a skit with James Corden. In his first interview since stepping down as a royal, Harry even performed a rendition of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme tune as the pair visited the mansion where the show was filmed. During the open bus tour, Harry spoke adoringly of 'amazing' son Archie and couldn't hide his adoration as wife 'Meg' was brought up. The clear joy at speaking about his boy and Meghan Markle came in stark contrast to Harry's tense responses when quizzed about brother Prince William and grandmother The Queen, observes body language expert Judi James . As he discusses his grandmother with Corden, Prince Harry becomes instantly protective and guarded, according to Judi. While as Corden jokes about playing Prince William on The Crown, Harry becomes suddenly serious and as his smile … [Read more...] about Prince Harry ‘revels in new freedom – but freezes when it comes to the Queen and William’
