Fitters from H&M have taken over possession today of its new store in the heart of Lynn town centre.It means that the H&M store, plus four further units in the same complex are likely to be open for business in mid-October.Previously it was thought that the store was likely to be open at the beginning of August.But Lee Shepherd, of LTS Consultancy, which has recently managed the project and building work, told the Lynn News: "Although early August was previously suggested, we have had to overcome some unforeseen challenges which had been left behind by the previous contractors."However H&M fitters have taken over the possession today and will start the fit-out, which is expected to take around six to eight weeks."H&M is the principal unit in the new building but we have created a further four units, although I am not aware of who the tenants are for those yet."They are due to be ready around the same time as the H&M unit, probably in about six to eight weeks' time. … [Read more...] about Lynn’s H&M store due to open

Eager shoppers waiting for the opening of the long-awaited new flagship store for the Vancouver Quarter, H&M, will have to display a little more patience as the Swedish-based firm said it still had no date for when the doors would open.An August opening date had been previously trailed, but a spokesman for H&M said this week: “We don’t have a confirmed opening date yet. Manchester Airport has revealed the first fleet of food and drink outlets landing at its £1bn super terminal. Italian restaurant San Carlo, coffee shops Pot Kettle Black and Grindsmith and fast food favourites Archie's Burgers and Shakes and Barburrito will be among the new arrivals next year, bringing some local flavour to a line up of 15 new brands. An alehouse from Salford's Seven Bro7hers brewery and a microbrewery pub in partnership with Joseph Holt will also be among several new bars opening when the Terminal Two extension is completed in 2020. The airport will also welcome high street names including Wagamama and M&S as part of the expansion - and there are plans for a food hall-style dining area with street food stalls further down the line. Both H&M and the Vancouver Quarter have declined to reveal when exactly the chain's new £3.8m anchor store will open in King's Lynn.It is not clear why neither wishes to name the day. A new deal could pull Oddbins out of administration - saving hundreds of jobs and seeing shops re-open. The wine retailer has been in administration since February, after owner European Food Brokers appointed Duff & Phelps as administrators to try and find a buyer. Now the Press Association understands advanced talks are taking place between Raj Chatta and insolvency firm Duff & Phelps over a deal to rescue the firm's remaining stores. The company has continued to trade since the business first entered administration in February as a buyer was sought, but it is understood that 13 Oddbins branches have shut their doors. A deal to secure the future of the business will also mean a number of its old locations could be sold to help stabilise its financial future.
