Dramatic drone footage released as police attacked after breaking up house party

Shocking drone footage shows dozens of Covidiots fleeing a 40-strong party after hurling bottles at the police officers who broke it up. Police stormed the illegal party in Nottingham after being called to the scene just after midnight on Wednesday. Seven officers were injured, and one was left with a black eye, as bottles were hurled at them following the party in Mapperley. Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cooper branded the incident "completely unacceptable." Who is Malawi’s new leader Lazarus Chakwera?

Malawi's opposition leader Lazarus Chakwera has won Malawi's rerun elections held on Tuesday to become the country's new president. The Malawi Election Commission declared him the victor on Saturday with a dominant 58.57% of the vote ahead of incumbent President Peter Mutharika. Mutharika, who has been in power since 2014, won 38% of the vote in last year's discredited elections in which Chakwera garnered 35%. Mutharika was even sworn into power, but evidence of electoral irregularities later led to the courts annulling the results . The scrapping of Mutharika's 2019 victory by the courts was historic as it made Malawi just the second sub-Saharan African country to have presidential poll results set aside, after Kenya in 2017 . More than 40% of the over-80s have broken lockdown rules after getting vaccinated against coronavirus, new data suggests. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) asked more than 2,000 people over 80 in England about their attitudes toward COVID-19 . Some 43% said they had met up with someone outside their household, support or care bubble indoors after getting their first jab. And 41% admitted they did so less than three weeks after getting their first dose, "appearing to break lockdown regulations". Nicola Sturgeon vows to ‘get on with the job’ as she awaits Alex Salmond inquiry ruling

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has vowed to "get on with the job" after answering eight hours' of questions over her government's handling of harassment claims against her predecessor Alex Salmond. A day after her lengthy evidence session before a Scottish parliament committee, Ms Sturgeon said she would now "rest on that". Mr Salmond, who was first minister from 2007 until 2014, was awarded a pay-out of more than £500,000 by the Court of Session after it ruled in January 2019 that the Scottish government had acted unlawfully. He was acquitted of 13 charges in March 2020 following a criminal trial. FILMING for the Geordie Shore ten year anniversary reunion has been cancelled – with the stars of the show left floundering. Earlier this week the cast were informed filming was on ice and that they would not be flying to Colombia when planned. Insiders said some of the show’s stars, including Sophie Kasaei, 31, and Charlotte Crosby, 30, feared it would no longer go ahead after bosses failed to give them new filming dates. But those working on the production insisted it was merely postponed. It comes after The Sun revealed the show was in chaos, with rows over filming, quarantine stipulations and phones.
