Satellite imagery captured before and after North Korea conducted what it called a 'very important' test at a satellite launch site suggested it had tested a rocket engine, experts said on Monday. Images taken on Saturday before a test at the Sohae satellite launching station showed vehicles likely to be used in an engine test, next to a testing bunker. Pictures of the same site a day later showed the vehicles had been moved, while soil behind the bunker appeared to have been disturbed, likely by a rocket exhaust. Real Housewives Of Atlanta: Kenya Moore deliberately ruins Marlo Hampton’s wig launch with own brand
Kenya Moore deliberately ruined Marlo Hampton's wig launch on Sunday's episode of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta, entitled Where There's A Wig, There's A Way. The longtime frenemies nearly came to blows after Kenya, 48, upstaged Marlo, 43, by bringing in her own haircare product, trailed by drummers bearing ads. 'Marlo is not known for good wigs, she's not known for hair, she's not known for edges,' the owner of Kenya Moore Haircare sniped. 'She's baldheaded to the back of her skull.' Party crasher: Kenya Moore purposefully ruined Marlo Hampton's wig launch party during Sunday's episode of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Her new item, Moore Edges, had sold so well at Sally Beauty stores, that they'd gotten more than 2,200 stores to carry her line, she said. When Kenya first showed up, Marlo was gracious, but eventually she and her nemesis were snarking at each other, tossing around jibes about fake eyebrows and 'uniboobs.' The Saudi gunman who killed three people at a naval base in Pensacola and wounded either others visited the September 11 memorial in New York City just days before the shooting and also filed a complaint against an instructor earlier this year, according to investigators. Senior law enforcement officials also say that the killer, Second Lt. Mohammed Saeed al-Shamrani, 21, made preparations for the shooting by filing paperwork to purchase a gun in April. It was during that same month that al-Shamrani lodged a complaint against one of his instructors at the training center who called him ‘porn stash’ in front of about 10 other aviation students, according to The New York Times. Mohammed Saeed al-Shamrani, 21, killed three and wounded 12 others in the attack before he was shot dead by police. This picture was released by the FBI on Saturday evening Investigators learned that a few days before the shooting, al-Shamrani and at least five other Saudi airmen traveled to New York … [Read more...] about ‘Radicalized’ Pensacola gunman visited 9/11 memorial in New York just two days before shooting dead three Navy trainees as it’s revealed he had ‘been thinking about this for a long time’
Rikers 2.0: inside the battle to build four new prisons in New York City
On clear days, Kevin Steele would peek through the cracked window of his six-by-eight foot solitary confinement cell on Rikers Island to get a glimpse of his Bronx neighbourhood and mentally escape. Steele was just 17 years old in June 2010 when he was brought to Rikers Island, arguably America’s most notorious prison and the nation’s largest penal colony. He had been arrested for his involvement in a fight and had no means to pay an assigned $85,000 bail. He spent three years at Rikers awaiting trial, 13 months of that in solitary confinement. “The conditions I faced on Rikers were really horrendous,” says Steele. “Looking out of that window was my way to survive.” Steele is today an activist with No New Jails NYC, a grassroots prison abolitionist group formed last year that has become a major player in the campaign to close Rikers. The group has mobilised New Yorkers – including influential Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez … [Read more...] about Rikers 2.0: inside the battle to build four new prisons in New York City
