But whilst cashback is always good news, you may want to weigh up whether the deal is worth it before taking the plunge and switching. Credit cards are a great help when it comes to paying for those big purchases - but if the balance has been on it for a while, the chances are you're racking up lots of interest which you may be struggling to pay back. Transferring the debt onto a 0 per cent interest credit card instead means your monthly repayments will be going towards paying off the debt, rather than on interest rates. The fraudsters posed as genuine account holders to order new debit and credit cards and PINs which they intercepted in the post and used to make fraudulent payments and cash withdrawals. Harrington Okorodudu, the former owner of Low Cost Autos in Blackpool, used cards the group obtained to pay fines registered to vehicles associated with his company, and council tax. A fraudster travel agent who misused ex-customers’ credit cards has been jailed for six months after failing to pay back compensation to her victims. Rita Hunter, 63, was ordered to pay £51,430.70 by a court in compensation after she was found guilty of defrauding holiday company Advantage Travel Partnership and another business. Hunter ran her own business, Hunters Travel in Liverpool, which has now ceased trading. She admitted in court to using former customers’ credit and debit cards to pay for new bookings. The bookings were made through the Advantage Travel Partnership, while she directed the money to her own accounts. Hunter, of Sankey Street, Liverpool city centre, was arrested in September 2015 and later charged with two counts of dishonestly making false representation, relating to both Advantage and another travel company.
