AN ACTIVE threat warning was issued at a college campus as the university told its students to "run, hide, fight." The chilling alert was issued at Northwestern University in Chicago on Monday at around 1.30pm. The lockdown orders were canceled almost an hour after it was sent to students. According to NBC Chicago , two suspects were taken into custody. One of the suspects was found in the Feinberg School of Medicine building, while a second was arrested in the basement of the Ward Building. CHICAGO has been rocked by yet another deadly weekend of violence after at least six people were shot dead. There were a total of 23 shooting victims from Friday to Sunday evening, police in the Windy City have confirmed. One 20-year-old man was shot dead in a kitchen on Sunday evening, ABC7 reports. A second man was killed standing on a sidewalk that same night. In one incident on Sunday a 12-year-old boy was hit by gunfire and rushed to hospital. He is expected to survive. A 27-year-old woman was shot dead shortly after middy on Sunday. The deadly weekend came just days after eight more people were shot dead in the city. On Saturday two men, aged 64 and 26, were shot dead in the same incident. Part of the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California was briefly evacuated on Tuesday when a ‘suspicious mail item’ was discovered by an employee. First responders discovered an envelope containing a white powder substance as reported by a local news outlet. The Santa Clara County Fire Department’s incident report shows there was a fire alarm and hazmat response at Apple’s headquarters just after noon local time. Only a portion of the campus was reportedly evacuated before being given the all-clear. Santa Clara County Fire Department Captain Justin Stockman told NBC that the envelope contained a ‘white powder substance’. Officials did not clarify what the substance actually was but employees were allowed to reenter their offices when the substance was deemed not to be harmful.
